LEGIT MARLEY COMPILATION,
By Philly Gal (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Collector's Edition - Bob Marley & The Wailers (Audio CD)
Don't know where the "bootleg" allegation comes from! The Double Play label was a legitimate independent license of the Twin Pack Music Co. in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This CD can still be purchased NEW right from Amazon, and from [...] (are these main-stream vendors selling bootleg? This reviewer doesn't think so). NOW ABOUT THE MUSIC ON THIS DISC: the songs are from 1968 through the early 70's. Four tracks were recorded with Johnny Nash in 1968: 'How Many Times,' 'Mellow Moods,' 'Hammer,' and 'There She Goes'. Another four tracks were made with Leslie Kong including the GREAT 'Soul Shake Down Party'. Most of the rest appear to be the work done by the group with Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Peter Tosh 's incredible work '400 Years' is here, along with many of the other Wailer heavy favorites. We found this CD very enjoyable as a compilation of the Wailers' work in the early Reggae period. Sound is pretty good too. ENJOY - IT'S NOT A BOOTLEG CD!

This is illegal,
By Bob Hund (Finland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Collector's Edition - Bob Marley & The Wailers (Audio CD)
This is an illegal bootleg release. Buy 'The Complete Bob Marley & the Wailers 1967-1972', parts 2 and 3 (from JAD Records) or Bob Marley & The Wailers albums from Trojan Records instead, if you want to have the songs on this album. JAD's and Trojan's releases are legal, and the sound quality is often much better on their albums. Also, if you buy the box sets from JAD, part of the money will go to the Bob Marley and Peter Tosh families and Bunny Wailer (the three original Wailers).
