Lists every known shape, glaze, and treatment used in producing Stangl's vast lines of artware, giftware, lamps, and birds inspired by Audubon. There are also sections on trademarks, and backstamps, solid color glazes, underglaze colors and history of Stangl. AUTHORBIO: Known to champion the cause of historic preservation, Rob Runge is fondly referred to as "Mr. Stangl." His collection of Fulper and Stangl pottery and dinnerware is quite extensive. He was born, raised, and educated in the Hunterdon County/Trenton, New Jersey area. He has been intensely involved with many civic activities aimed at advancing the interests of collectors today. REVIEW: This book is a companion to the author's other title, Collector's Encyclopedia of Stangl Dinnerware. It takes a look at one of the most prolific makers of American ceramics. It opens with an introduction to the history of the Hill, Fulper, and Stangl pottery companies that Martin Stangl produced from 1924 to 1978. Chapters on dealer signs; Stangl paper products, advertising, and premiums; trademarks and backstamps are included.

Despite the amount of product that Stangl kicked out for so many years, this book does touch on the many types of pottery the company had made. I personally collect the gold brushed pieces, many of which are represented in this book, but there are so many more pieces that the book omitted that i actually own. Also, I turned on to a friend by collecting the black & gold type, which is almost absent from this book altogether.
What i will say is that this book does touch on so many different items that the company did make that i had no idea, such as lamps and the many colorful birds, which are colorfully represented here. Many pictures abound this volume. A must read for those who are just starting to collect, and to those who may have a passing interest in one of New Jersey's more famous pottery outputs of days gone by.
