Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This text uses the graphing utility to enhance the study of mathematics. Technology is used as a tool to solve problems, motivate concepts, and explore mathematical ideas. "Enhanced with Graphing Utilities" provides clear and focused coverage. Many of the problems are solved using both algebra and a graphing utility, and the text illustrates the advantages and benefits of each approach. Technology is used to solve problems when no algebraic solution is available and to help students visualize certain concepts. Topics such as curve-fitting and data analysis are incorporated as appropriate. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was a competent book with one small problem., July 15, 1998
By A Customer
College Algebra is quite authorative on the subject matter covered and helps the student grasp the key points as well as some of the finer points of Algebra. While I was in this course I had the most difficult time trying to find certain supplements the book suggested that were put out by the publisher. They had no knowledge of the material at the company but it was clearly stated in the text. All in all the overall text and message of the book was rather competent and illuminating.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough examples, March 27, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is hard to follow and doesn't have good examples. You end up needing a supplement like cliff notes algebra 2 to help you out and that was even better. College algebra is challenging but I know of way too many students who had to retake the course under this book. It just doesn't simplify the harder concepts.
