I had been out of school for 10 years when I enrolled into a College Algebra course that used this book. If it would have not been for this textbook, I would have never made it through the course with an A. It is written in a way that builds up in a very easy to understand way and has great sample problems. The review part helped me to catch up within only a week. Very recommended!

I usually do not do these reviews, but I have to regarding this book. DON'T GET IT unless you absolutely have to or unless you have a wonderful teacher who makes sure you know everything you before you are set to an assignment. This is NOT the book to use with an online course or independent study.

The book's explanations are not clear most of the time. They go into great detail(relative to the book in general) regarding the most fundamental of skills, but then skip over essential basics and not-so-basics when they present the skills that are not mere foundational pre-algebra. I've spent more time searching for information on the internet (You Tube has some incredibly useful videos by a number of people with varying explanations, and Western Texas A&M has the best explanations of skills/processes I've seen)

In the exercises, they give you problems based on the processes presented, but often give problems that are beyond what was presented in the chapter and show no examples of how to build up to that level. Thankfully I have the solution manual which shows the progression so I can go to the internet and ask "How do I go from here to there?" and find an answer thanks to generous mathematicians who want to share their knowledge.

In short - if you can use another book, don't waste you money on this one.

I actually found an older edition of this in the campus library and fell in love with it due to the simplicity of the explanations and layout. I'm about to re-take College Algebra using Lial's 10th edition which is the most HORRIBLE math book I've ever encountered. The nice thing is that this book covers the same material from the class, but in much more understandable, normal language.

I only wished my school used this book.

Im in the navy ive tooken algebra 2 in highschool and i got this book to brush up and to get a better understanding of algebra. It did not do a good job at explaining things it was not organized as well as it didn't go into depth very well i personally didn't find this book helpfull at all.

This buy was great. Book was in good condition and well worth the price saved on a new book. Thank you to the seller.

The price was just right for the penny-saving college student, and the content was as exact as it was described. The delivery period was decent.

the book has ok it had all the apges put the cover had A HUGE DENT in the middle of the cover from some type of damgage and it took longer than my other book but it was ther before the Delivery date so it was OK

I am very dissappionted for such a poor service received from one of your clients. How can mailing an item in the USA take more than 4wks for it to get to their destination?. If this is how some people want to transact business,then they are better of not doing it at all because some of us really like shopping at amazon and this kind of attitude will drive us away!

It's that time of year when us college students are looking for textbooks for the school year. I bought my book from cheap text books. I was so happy with the quality and condition of the book I bought.

First - the book was cheaper then any of the other ones that I searched for.

Second - the book was shipped out immediately and I received it in less then a week.

Third - the book was in the same condition they had promised it would be - very good.

If you want great books for an even better price then buy your book from "cheap text books," I guarantee you'll get an excellent product!
