Review
A good road map to the plethora of guidebooks popping up almost daily! --
Ivylyn Scott, Counselor, New Canaan High School, New Canaan, CTA very helpful book for counselors and students. I got information which was very helpful about some books I had not heard about or read and will now recommend on the basis of the information in this volume. --
Laura Clark, Director of College Guidance, Riverdale Country School, New York, NYAnother in the publisher's nicely organized series of guides, similar to Divorce: The Best Resources to Help You Survive, which we reviewed in the December 1, 1997, issue. Almost 200 resources, including books, Websites, and CD-ROMs, are arranged under subject headings such as "Selecting Colleges by Strength of Major Departments" and "Preparing for Campus Visits and Interviews." Each resource is given a full-page description, evaluation, and rating. --
Booklist, January 1, 1998Finally, a well-organized and researched, user-friendly guide to the myriad resources appropriate for the college search. The ratings are valid and accurate; the overview of the entire process step-by-step is excellent. --
Phyllis S. Steinbrecher, Educational Consultant, Westport, ConnecticutThe guidebook for parents seeking to save both time and money in helping their son or daughter understand which resource will help him or her most in their search...A 'must' for all school and community libraries. --
Midwest Book Review, 12/96The quintessential guide to the guides...helps families and professionals alike sort through resources in a thorough, sensible, and frank manner...Filled with substantive descriptions and expert evaluations. Before you consult any of the materials out there, read this book! --
Robert M. Kinnally, Dean of Admission & Financial Aid, Stanford UniversityTruly useful and comprehensive-the very best overviews I've ever seen in my 25 plus years in the fielD. What a great job you've done! --
James Malone, Ph.D., Career Development CounselingWe wish this beautifully organized guidebook had been available when our three sons were choosing colleges! The informative, frank descriptions, the well thought out ratings, and the numerous indexes are invaluable tools for parents and their sons and daughters. --
