I first saw this book at a book store, and I bought all the copies they had to give as graduation gifts for kids going away to college. Most of the parents also said they read the book, too, and wished they had had something similar when they went off to school. It has all kinds of information that most people have no idea about.

This review is from: The College Dorm Survival Guide: How to Survive and Thrive in Your New Home Away from Home (Paperback)
I'm sure that any college student to-be experiences a range of emotions about their upcoming shove into the "real world" away from their parents. I am a recent high school graduate who will be starting college this Fall, and my emotions ran the scale from excitement to downright fear. Most particularly, I'm afraid of living in a new environment, with a stranger I don't know, more than 500 miles away from home. I grew up essentially an only child, so I've never really had to share anything of mine, let alone my room and life. That's why I picked up this book, and reading it calmed me down because it gave me many, many tips and tricks on how to keep a good relationship with your roommate, how to deal with various situations, and what my "rights" are when it comes to sharing a space. It covers safety, guidelines, being "sexiled", and even the accuracy of college roommate match-making (in placing together people who will get along tolerably well or better). This book will be an indispensable guide to my future life, and I highly recommend it to any college student out there.
