Works fine until you have to reprogram it. Then you can't find any instructions anywhere online. I don't have the manual, but should be able to find it online. The website on the remote is defunct.

Around five years ago, a local outlet store had these for around five dollars, so I got one, then went back for another. Just now I took out the second one because the original is somewhere behind the couch.

One has the sports theme, the other doesn't, and the special team keys do things other than tune in channels. On the latter, one of mine controls the "sleep" function of the television, so the sports remote doesn't do that. Other TV brands will vary, of course.

Of all the replacement remotes I've had, not one of them, up to about $25, was as good as this one. There seems to be a button to work more functions of my (Polaroid) TV than any of them have had, with this or former (TV) sets. It is pretty easy to read, the keys are placed logically, and it fits my hand well.

About programming: As long as you remember that you start by pressing the button for the particular device, and that there isn't a separate "code" button, it's simple to do. Remote controls tend to have a similar pattern of searching, and this one has an extra feature I like: Because it uses channel-changing to program, if you accidentally go past the channel that worked, you can arrow back to the correct one, rather than have to start over, as you must do with remotes that use the power button. (Still, make sure you have fresh batteries ready when you're changing them. Who wants to reprogram anything, even with the manual?)

One minor flaw: The color wears off the buttons faster than other handheld devices, and no impressions are left to squint at, while trying to figure out what they were for. It's another reason to keep the manual handy, or even to keep the whole thing in a plastic bag -- that's not so hard, and it's protective against spills that will ruin electronic gadgets.

Was a cheap solution to an old tv with a broken remote. It gets the job done, nothing more nothing less. It does have programmable "ESPN" buttons (can be programmed to any channel not just ESPN).
