4.0 out of 5 stars Best College Hoops game to date!, March 22, 2007

This review is from: College Hoops 2K7 (Video Game)
I recently baught this game. The $20 it cost is certainly worth it. The edit player feature is really nice. You can actully use the real players names on the game, and have the announcers say them as well. They have pretty much any college team, not to mention alot of the real coaches too. If they don't have them, you can edit them too. The game graphic wise is pretty solid. The only thing that hurts, is the way the players will miss easy shots and layups sometimes. The Top 25 season rankings need to be touched up for next season's version. They have teams sometimes that should not be ranked in the top 10, over teams that are playing much better competition. They have the Selection Sunday show at the end of the season after the Conference Tournaments are over, to get you set up for the big dance, now that's very nice. So that makes up for the Top 25 thing a little anyway. Like I said , there is no better college basketball game out there right now. College Hoops 2K7 is so much better than the March Madness games, it's funny. 4 out of 5.

i got this game accidentally when i was at a local target. i forgot i preordered the ps3 version for the ps3 and i have to say that this game is better than the ps3 version and it is for the ps2 which is a older system than the s3 is. the graphics are way above average for the ps2 and it is alot of fun overall. i actually think there is more detail in the arenas in this game than there is in te ps3 version, but that is just an opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars COACH mode addict, May 14, 2007

Before you read my review I just wanted to clarify that I only play in COACH LEGACY mode.

So...

I started this game out as the coach of the STONEY BROOK SEAWOLVES and have been coaching them for three seasons now. After each season you can put yourself into a carousel for job openings or you can stick to your job. You also do your own recruiting, control what your players need to work on in practice, picks plays, control lineups, give pep talks to individual players, go to off season recruitment camps where you can coach incoming freshman or practice with them and try to influence that player you need to come to your school.

Ultimately, 2k7 is the most indepth and fun game I've ever encountered. I love the pursuit. I love the season to season test of your recruiting skills. I love being in charge of putting together a team year after year. I also love, in coach mode, the realism you can achieve.

In some games, you'll find yourself... as STONEY BROOK or whoever... building up your team and beating #1's and top tens. In this game, it keeps it real. I got into the NCAA tourny three seasons in a row. I lost to USC in the first round by 10, in my second season I lost in the first round to Tennessee by twenty and last season I upset Notre Dame, only to be destroyed by #2 ranked Kentucky by 35 points in round 2.

2k7 is tremendously realistic... with a catch.

I found during my first season that the SLIDERS needed to be TWEAKED BADLY!! This is the only reason I don't give it the full 5 stars. During my first season, I had 9x more steals than the next highest team and 4x more turnovers. I'm talking 900+ steals in one season! That's like 30 steals a game... slightly ridiculous. You'll find your guys throwing the ball overhand into traffic, trying to throw through three defenders or just simply trying to make retarded passes.

I found that in order to reduce steals... I had to reduce my COACH sliders on tempo and defensive pressure. So, the game sort of handicaps you. I wanted to play an up tempo game, but doing that... I sacrificed realism. So, I turned the sliders way down.

I also turned down the steal sliders to almost nothing... in all areas and it helped, but it is still a problem. Fortunately, it's enough to keep the game within a hair of being completely realistic. I also turned the referee fouls ALL up to 100%. At 50%... they NEVER blew the whistle. I could play an entire game without a foul until I turned up it's sliders.

Finally, I also cranked the sliders up on shot tendencies. I found my players standing wide open for a shot and hesitating. I also found guys standing there when there were obvious lanes to the hoop. TURN UP TENDENCIES! Also, dunks in traffic. Turned that up too... just because their cool.

Tweak the sliders to your liking and play away. Fantastic game that I'm completely addicted to, just wish that the game didn't have such a slider problem.
