This edition has been completely revised, specifically in the lowering of the level in the calculus portion of the book to to better meet the needs of students. Exercises, applications, treatment of systems of equations, and examples have been included. The third edition incorporates technology through the addition of computer/graphing calculator exercises, and applications vary to match everyday life scenarios.
Soo T. Tan, Professor of Mathematics at Stonehill College, has published numerous papers in Optimal Control Theory and Numerical Analysis. He received his S.B. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
