Book Description

July 21, 2009
18-25-year-olds are trying to find their place in society while living through an array of experiences that force them to reevaluate beliefs and assumptions they were raised with, which leads many students to disconnect from the church after high school. College Ministry 101 will help church leaders understand the college-age-stage in order to better minister to their needs. This book will provide leaders with practical ministry philosophies about how to effectively minister to college students through mentor relationships, what students need in their day-to-day lives, how to work with volunteers in college ministry, and how to turn college-age students into genuine disciples.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very true and applicable, August 9, 2009
This review is from: College Ministry 101: A Guide to Working with 18-25 Year Olds (Paperback)
I've been doing college-age ministry full time at my local church for 5 years now and found this book to be extremely helpful to me. It helped me understand mistakes I made in the past and why they affected the ministry the way they did. It also helped me gain a better understanding as to where these students are at developmentally and how to best reach and engage with them now. And finally it helped me have a greater vision for the future of the ministry that God has entrusted to me and the students lives he's blessed me with. The truths that are in this book will be helpful for you no matter in what context you're serving college-age students in your local church. I highly recommend it and will be getting more to have my director and some key volunteers read as well. Key take home that I have is that it's not about how large your budget is and what programs/events you're running, it's about the individual lives of the students and caring about them for who they are and helping coach them into who God wants them to be as mature Christians. You don't need budget and flash to do that, just a heart to love God and love neighbor. This book can be a great tool to help you know how to most effectively do that to college-age students in your midst.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overdue Gift to this Generation, August 19, 2009

This review is from: College Ministry 101: A Guide to Working with 18-25 Year Olds (Paperback)
For anyone involved in high-school, college, or single adult ministry, this should be required reading. Not only does Chuck bring an incredibly personal, easy-to-read flavor this these pages, but he also provides a thoughtful philosophy that I've yet to hear in the modern Church. If the principals of "College Ministry 101" were put into practice, the landscape of the American Church would change dramatically, to a more healthy and Biblical Body of Christ, I believe.

This book is a must-read for anyone doing college-age ministry! Chuck has a biblical philosophy of ministry, and has years of experience to share from. I wish someone in every church would read this book and put this kind of ministry into place!
