4.0 out of 5 stars competing in a crowded market, February 14, 2005
This review is from: College Physics (Hardcover)
Well, the artwork in the book is certainly gorgeous. A pleasure to read. But I am uncertain how distinctive the text really is, in providing any unique and advantageous insight to a university undergraduate struggling with a physics course.

Which is not to say that the material is wrong or poorly written. Clearly, the authors have distilled a lot of effort into composing the text, and assembling a diverse set of problems and examples. Where these are often chosen to pique the reader's interest, by invoking real life situations that might be germane to her.

The biggest problem this book faces is that there are several other long standing physics texts, now deep into their n-th editions. Mindshare is a difficult thing to acquire under these circumstances.

3.0 out of 5 stars Physics I and II for non-majors, July 10, 2011

The book was fine. It had good details, but needs a good teacher to be able to understand the materials.

1.0 out of 5 stars Said it was new but was NOT!, July 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: College Physics (Hardcover)
There was heavy pencil smudging in the questions sections for chapters 1,2, and 3 and light smudging throughout the book. Also the spine of the book and corners of the book were damaged upon receiving the book. There is no way the book could have been new, it was in worse condition than the worst used book at the college book store. Have caution when dealing with this lying seller.

1.0 out of 5 stars Book does not include answers to many problems, March 20, 2010
By
What a waste of money. The book doesn't include answers to many of the odd numbered problems. I have never seen a solutions guide that skips so many answers. Very frustrating and unhelpful.

3.0 out of 5 stars better than no solutions manual, May 13, 2007
this manual does not have all the answers or explanations to them. the detail is poor, and none of the conceptual questions or multiple choice have answers at all. it helps sometimes, but comes up short often.

5.0 out of 5 stars College Physics Student Manual, April 16, 2009
By
The book was in great condition and arrived in a timely manner. It was not what I thought it would be, but that was due to my lack of research on the product. I thought it would have all of the answers to the problems in the physics book, but it still only has the odd answers, just the solutions on how to do the problems. This is still a very helpful tool for physics students however. The book was everything the seller said it would be.
