But as Kelci Lucier states in her new book, “College Stress Solutions”, you don’t have to be stressed just because you are in a stressful environment; the key is learning how to identify the sources of stress, and develop effective coping strategies so you can handle these issues long before you become “a stressed-out, burned-out mess”. Realizing that problems with homesickness require a much different set of solutions than confusion about choosing a major, the author has broken the book into chapters that deal with each of the most common areas of stress and provide clear, step-by-step suggestions to put you back in control of the situation. At the end of each chapter there is a summary of action plans that are especially useful for time-challenged students and parents.
My Take: I found this book to be an excellent resource for any student heading off to college. I appreciated the author’s style of asking the questions at the start of each chapter to help define what is causing the stress.Read more ›
