Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ann Litt's sensible, intelligently written approach to eating properly at college is a book that many parents will buy for their college-bound 'children'...but will find it so valuable for learning about their own menus and nutrition that they may have to buy a second copy to keep at home! This is NOT a "diet book"! Some topics covered are protein requirements for athletes, shaving calories from your diet, vegetarian alternatives, cooking at college, eating disorders, low calorie snacks. The many charts and lists are helpful and easy to use, although not graphically exciting. Healthy, delicious alternative snacks are suggested in lieu of high fat, high calorie ones. Examples of well-balanced, filling, good-for-you meals are described throughout. Recommendations for exercise and caloric requirements are easy to use. This is a user-friendly book which will inspire many parents to think even more carefully about what meals and snacks they're providing at home...and maybe, just maybe, the lucky college-bound recipients of this book will 'digest' its contents before they hit the campus dining halls and snack bars. Thank you, Ann Litt, for a welcome graduation gift and wise guideline to staying fit on campus-- or off !
