Helpful guide! October 11, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had the opportunity to hear the authors speak at a transitions conference last year. One of the things they said that really stuck with me is that the goal is not getting your kids into college, it's getting them out (ie. having them complete a degree program and turn that into a job). This guide is a wonderful resource for LD students and parents who are in the college search process. Yes, colleges are "required" to make appropriate and reasonable accomodations, but the reality is that services vary dramatically from one college to the next. For the LD student, these services can make or break their college experience. This guide will help you learn who to talk to, what questions to ask, and what to look for in a college for the LD student.

Good as far as it goes..... November 14, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
this book covers mid-size and large universities and colleges. I suspect the data offered comes directly from these institutions. Largely missing, however, is data on small liberal arts colleges which almost, though not exclusively, by definition cater to students with LD issues in a more personal and flexible way. So, if you have such a college in your sights, and there are myriad reasons to, give them a call and chat about the accommodations they offer....chances are you will be very pleased with the outcome of the call.

As a parent of a High School Senior who was only diagnosed with a learning disability this past spring, this has been a fabulous book to use in combination with the college's website and literature. It helps in initially ranking the students preferred colleges and acts as a guidepost for more questioning of the schools or elimination of them altogether.
