I own the first album by Beats Antique and think I might even love this second one more. Wow. I can't stop listening. It's a cross between tribal bellydance, circus, hip hop and techno...great for tribal/dark bellydance, though I'm not a bellydancer, just LOVE the tunes. Saw them live recently (Oct. 08) and it was spectacular. Great album.

If you liked the first cd you are going to love this one , either you are a belly dancer , circus performer , new age person , all the material can be suited for an out of this world experience , the composition of this album filled with ethnic spices , funky sounds , and great rhythm is a must have for the lovers of unique music.

This Beats Antique album is great but at the same time not for everyone. If however you like a contemporary sound fused with belly dance and electronic give it a listen. The opening track offers a refreshing beat and the album continues from there. Bassnectar also remixed Roustabout which I would recommend. Seeing them live is definitely where its at. Overall a great album and making music few can replicate.

This is a very fun CD. Love the music. I keep listening to it over and over because it has so many unique sounds and rhythms. My husband usually does not like the music I belly dance to, but he actually enjoys listening to this cd quite a bit (he's a drummer if that helps).
I can't think of one thing I don't like on this one (there's even one that reminds me of a video game). The only thing I will say is if you know you do not like dark, circus, or industrial sounds, you should definitely listen to the clips provided on Amazon before buying. The clips are not deceiving like they can be for some discs, so that was a nice surprise too. :)

I will be buying more from them!

ENJOY!

Beautiful album, great tribal beats and eclectic weirdness. Fun and perfect to dance or workout, or have a pagan ritual or do arts and crafts - or heck, go for a drive or walk.

Just the thing to keep me going on my job. I particularly love the electronica and hip hop elements going on here, and the way they blend seemlessly with the more traditional bellydance sounds. A little creepy. A little funky. Boy, what a unique sound! I've listened to dozens of bellydance music albums and they are all starting to sound the same. But this stopped me dead on my tracks.

I absolutely love Beats Antique's raw, tribal music. I was turned on to them after listening to an online radio station and I haven't looked back. What else can I say? Their music just moves me. If you love tribal, middle eastern-vibe, belly dance music, this is for you!

Unlike Star Trek movies, it is the odd numbered tracks on this album that really shine. I purchased this album after hearing several of the tracks on Pandora.com (notably Tracks 1 and 3). I was expecting the album to have tracks with a similar feel, but that was because Pandora filters music that way, so the very different tracks were a bit of a surprise.

After listening to the album several times, I decided that the odd number tracks are the ones that appeal to me the most. I like their feel and tone - a moody feeling with a good beat. I can imagine dancers dancing to these songs. The even numbered songs tended to have discordant feels to them and occasionally jarring noises that really made me wince. (I'd site specific tracks, but I don't have the album on me at the moment.) Track 5 (Roustabout) was a big surprise as it riffs off of Enter the Gladiators (aka: the circus clown song), but after getting over the surprise, I really got into this track.

I would recommend buying this album as there are enough individual tracks that are worth purchasing that buying the album is only a dollar or two more.

I cannot get enough of this CD! I mean that quite literally. Every song is fantastic, and you want to move and dance to every song. The first time I listened to it, I found it just weird enough to keep me both slightly off-balance and entirely intrigued. And then I found myself wanting to listen to it, over and over... just bought this CD last night and I've listened to it 3 or 4 times already and woke up with the first track stuck in my head!

It's amazing. A little strange. Great beats. A seamless combination of multiple varieties of music. Like others have said, there is a sort of "weird circus" theme going... which just sort of makes it MORE addictive.

I was raised listening to music of many nationalities, and have always had a soft spot for this style of music. Just like any album, not every song will be a favorite, but I must confess I do love most of the songs. I typically look for music that has a good steady rhythm because I like to play it while I'm at work to keep a good pace for myself. A friend of mine who teaches belly dancing heard me listening to Beats Antique and almost instantly started moving without thinking about it. This is a wonderful album.
