Editorial Reviews

Embracing their roots with their defiant brand of "mexicore" and gaining a rapid fan base thanks to their incredible live show, Pierce The Veil have become a hot commodity over the past few years. But with the release of stunning new album Collide With The Sky, the San Diego natives are truly en fuego. Deploying every shred of musical prowess in their artillery, Pierce The Veil have poured heart and soul into new album Collide With The Sky - and it shows. Blending the unique vocal style of singer Vic Fuentes, incendiary guitar lines and soaring melody, the band's third album is an aural exploration that at once both packs a punch, while finding the pockets of calm in the chaos - a talent that has made the band such a refreshingly exhilarating force in the scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Collide with the Sky...a must buy July 17, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just got this CD today, and it has been playing all night. This is probably the best CD from Pierce the Veil, in my opinion. Long-term fans will not be disappointed. There is enough variety on this this album to appeal to all types of listeners. Listen to the samples and decide for yourself, all I can say is that I really enjoy this CD and I will be listening to it for a long time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars holy bitch in a buzz-saw July 18, 2012
By Brendan
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Holy bitch in a buzz-saw, wow. I don't think you can go wrong with this album. Comes across as a more in your face album; much like Alesana, they have grown as musicians as well with the lyrics. Can't really find a filler within this piece of art, even with the intro track, it kicks you in the baby maker. At the end of the musical journey, this album leaves you only wanting more. Job well done!

Hardcore rock is not typically my cup my tea, but I enjoyed Pierce The Veil's "Collide With The Sky" from start to finish. I'm open minded musically. Every once in awhile I try listening to music styles and artists that are different from what I'm familiar with. Sometimes I don't like it; sometimes I end up liking it. I recently tried some post-hardcore and metalcore bands. I couldn't get into any metalcore, but I could get into post-hardcore that is highly melodic and/or has a lead vocalist with a good voice. And Pierce The Veil is highly melodic, and lead vocalist Vic Fuentes does have a good voice.

Pierce The Veil are an above average band in their genre if they can get a non-hardcore rock fan like myself to really enjoy their latest album. I `rocked out' while listening to it, as well as appreciated the craft of the songs. The rhythms are very complex and change several times on some songs. There's genre-mixing on this album.

Choice tracks are "King for a Day", "Bulls in the Bronx", and "Props & Mayhem". "King for a Day" has Kellin Quinn's (of Sleeping With Sirens) vocals compliment Fuentes' nicely. "Bulls in the Bronx" adds a Latin flair to post-hardcore. "Props & Mayhem" has more of a pop-punk base.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! July 18, 2012
By Nea
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
All I can say is amazing! These guys have pushed themselves so hard and it shows. The instruments are amazing. Every beat is perfect and every lyric is great. I'm really proud of what they have accomplished. I have so much love and respect for them. This record is heavier but it still has that typical Pierce the Veil flair. Getting this album was one of the best decisions ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mexicore Has Taken Over May 5, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Pierce the Veil was really good back when they released Selfish Machines. But in the sea of post-hardcore music they were still looking for their undefinable thing that makes them better than everyone else. I can honestly say that whatever that thing is, they found it in Collide With The Sky. Everything about this cd screams that they can't be ignored and are defining what they call Mexicore.

"May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep Tonight": Just Wow. There is nothing else to say except that this song is a great opener.
"Hell Above": A really strong continuation of the feeling of the last song.
"A Match into Water": Can this be real? Did I dream this next PTV cd.
"King for a Day": Yes, Yes. We all love Kellin Quinn, he is really great. But this song is so much more than him and a cool music video. This song in a nut-shell defines the evolved and better sound.
"Bulls in the Bronx": This song has more emotion and great music in it than an emo girl during her manic phase.
"Props & Mayhem": Thank god, they are giving me time to recover after that huge start. This song isn't out of control like the others, but it is really great.
"Tangled in the Great Escape": Did Vic and Jaime always sound this way or did they gain super vocal powers. Wow.
"I'm Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket": This song is so all over the place in sound, it is just awesome. Easily one of the most quotable lyric wise.
"The First Punch": Great.
"One Hundred Sleepless Nights": Ya know, I wouldn't doubt this feeling for a second. The sound is really great.
"Stained Glass Eyes and Colorful Tears": The lyrics on this song are out of control. Go look at them and then try and pretend it isn't a great song.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite albums of all time. January 8, 2013
By Ian
Format:MP3 Music
So when I'm finding new music, I go online and listen to samples of a few songs, and just hope for the best when I buy it. This is probably the best album I have ever found that way, and I personally adore this album! All of the songs are fantastic, and this CD gets replayed by me multiple times a week. If anyone is debating buying this album, I say do it, chances are, you will like it!

This is album is sickly amazing. I love it so much. When it's over, I guarantee you will replay the album at least another 3 times. Pierce The Veil just gets better, and better, and better. 100/100, my favorite album right now, hands down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. The kind of music I will happily pay for. August 21, 2012
By Mike
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
This album is awesome. I heard "King for a day" which freaking rocks, and my mind was already made up on purchasing it.

Everything you'd come to expect from pierce the viel is present in this album. Many of the songs are slightly harder than whats been on previous albums, but you can still rock and sing along to them.

The slower songs are hits as well. The alternate version of "im low on gas.." is awesome, and the acoustic version of "hold on till may" is absolutely beautiful.

In a day and age where its all too easy to download music for free, this is the type of content i will happily pay for. This album gets better with every listen. Can't wait to see them play these songs live.
