Book Description

November 27, 2007
Deborah Stark is a newscaster with ambition to spare and a take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to love. Her latest whirlwind affair with the darkly sexy Marcus ends with D. never expecting to see him again. Then her mother dies right before Thanksgiving and Marcus shows up on the doorstep of D.'s childhood home in New Jersey--and the ice around her heart cracks a little.

But for D., work comes first.  She's deep into a story about corruption throughout the highest levels of the company that owns her Philadelphia television station, and not even the hint of true love can distract her.

Marcus has secrets--about the mysterious Foundation he works for, about his ability to shape-shift--secrets D. isn't ready to hear.  But when D. realizes that Marcus is too aware of what she's investigating to be an innocent bystander, she knows she must accept his truths. For only with Marcus's help will D. survive long enough to expose corruption . . . and claim love.

From Booklist

Deborah Stark, known as D., a Philadelphia news anchor, meets sexy Marcus Bocelli at the wedding of Maggie and Julian in Shifting Love (2004), and after a night of hot sex, she never expects to see him again. To her great surprise, he turns up at the tiny house in New Jersey where she spent an anguished childhood, just as she has to make funeral arrangements for her mother. He becomes her friend, but D. remembers that Maggie has warned her away from Marcus. When D. finds out about an enormous conspiracy involving her TV station, the company that owns it, and high-ranking government officials, a conspiracy that may result in the deaths of innocent people, she also discovers that Marcus is leading a double life. O'Day-Flannery slowly and carefully builds the suspense, and a relationship, maintaining a deliberate pace that finally yields a happy ending. The paranormal element is miniscule, ceding importance to the conspiracy, which proves to be enticing. Diana Tixier Herald

Review

“She proves that love is timeless.”--Nora Roberts

"Shifting Love read like Deb Smith’s Alice at Heart crossed with Touched by a (Sexy) Angel. Something about the atmosphere and tone reminded me of the Waterlilies series, and not just because of the heroine’s ability to change her form. The dual heroes in the book--Julian and Marcus--will leave you guessing until the very end."--Science Fiction Romance on Shifting Love

"Shifting Love is a tale that is magnificent with vivid storytelling and charm.  Ms. O’Day-Flannery returns to fiction with a story that is timeless and fiction at its finest.  It is a powerful creation of fantasy, paranormal and romance that offers so much for so many readers.  It is something that all readers should have on their keeper shelves.  Welcome back--with a hit!--Constance O’Day-Flannery…your fans are glad to see you back!"--The Road to Romance on Shifting Love

"After a well deserved rest, mega-talented author O'Day-Flannery is back to launch Tor's hot new paranormal romance line. Shifting Love is unique, thrilling and chock-full of emotion, proving O'Day-Flannery is still at the top of her game!"--Romantic Times BOOKreviews, 4 1/2 stars on Shifting Love

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Page Turner, February 23, 2006

Constance O'Day Flannery is one of my favorite authors. I had grown addicted to her time travel novels, so I was excited to see a new book. While this one strays from the time travel genre, it is still great. The love scenes between the two are intense and just steamy enough. I could not put it down and actually read it through twice. It's great to see work from this author again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, December 26, 2005
Deborah Stark "D." is a newscaster with high ambitions. Right now she is investigating corruption within the company that owns her television station. When the story is finished, D. will prove that the corruption is not minor at all. The rot runs throughout the top positions. Of course, this puts D.'s life in danger.

D. never expected to see Marcus Bocelli again. But when her mother dies near Thanksgiving, Marcus shows up. D. thinks he is a bit odd with his talk of dimensions and such, but she is still very attracted to him. When he begins talking about the mysterious Foundation he works for and about being able to shape-shift, she has second thoughts again. She soon finds out that there really is no time for rethinking any situation, because only Marcus's special help can keep her alive until her story is finished and released to the public!

***** I have always thought Constance O'day-Flannery was a fantastic writer. This story simply proves it. I had to keep reminding myself that this story is a piece of fiction. But the author makes the characters come alive and gives enough depth to make it all believable. Extremely, highly recommended! *****

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD STORY, VERY BAD PUBLISHER, August 20, 2011

This review is from: Colliding Forces (The Foundation, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Colliding Forces is a great story with interesting characters in a wonderful love story; just enough sex and action. The underlying commentary about our world situation is fascinating and I really enjoyed reading the opinions of this intelligent author. However, my enjoyment of the book was compromised by the constant typos. This book was obviously not proofread but relied on spell check. It's a shame that an author this talented has such a poor publisher. I'll buy more of her books in hopes the publisher has done a better job.
