Constance O'Day Flannery is one of my favorite authors. I had grown addicted to her time travel novels, so I was excited to see a new book. While this one strays from the time travel genre, it is still great. The love scenes between the two are intense and just steamy enough. I could not put it down and actually read it through twice. It's great to see work from this author again!

Deborah Stark "D." is a newscaster with high ambitions. Right now she is investigating corruption within the company that owns her television station. When the story is finished, D. will prove that the corruption is not minor at all. The rot runs throughout the top positions. Of course, this puts D.'s life in danger.
D. never expected to see Marcus Bocelli again. But when her mother dies near Thanksgiving, Marcus shows up. D. thinks he is a bit odd with his talk of dimensions and such, but she is still very attracted to him. When he begins talking about the mysterious Foundation he works for and about being able to shape-shift, she has second thoughts again. She soon finds out that there really is no time for rethinking any situation, because only Marcus's special help can keep her alive until her story is finished and released to the public! ***** I have always thought Constance O'day-Flannery was a fantastic writer. This story simply proves it. I had to keep reminding myself that this story is a piece of fiction. But the author makes the characters come alive and gives enough depth to make it all believable. Extremely, highly recommended! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

VERY GOOD STORY, VERY BAD PUBLISHER,

Colliding Forces is a great story with interesting characters in a wonderful love story; just enough sex and action. The underlying commentary about our world situation is fascinating and I really enjoyed reading the opinions of this intelligent author. However, my enjoyment of the book was compromised by the constant typos. This book was obviously not proofread but relied on spell check. It's a shame that an author this talented has such a poor publisher. I'll buy more of her books in hopes the publisher has done a better job.

I love anything Constance O'Day Flannery. She writes TIME TRAVEL books.
I would say if you buy this book you'll also want the first of the series as well.

I enjoyed this #2 of the "series", I hope there is another one following. I liked following up on whatever happed to Deborah and also getting a follow up in the book as to what happened further to Maggie, the character in book 1. If there is another in the series I will buy it.

Self-help book in disguise,
By
This review is from: Colliding Forces (The Foundation, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'd have to say that Ms. O'Day-Flannery had been reading about 10 too many self-help books around the time she wrote this. There's a decent romance well hidden in the story but you have to be tenacious enough to read to the very end. Then you are traumatized by all the unfinished story threads. It's my thought that if the author hadn't been so excessive in explaining the existential nature of life itself, exhaustively, (;->) she might have worked on those threads a little more and come up with a really good book, because the framework was certainly there.
About halfway through this book I was ready to chunk it, tired of having my heart stings yanked on and then being "helped" to get over my feelings of saddness. Without a suitable substitute and knowing that this author is generally a good read I persevered. I was rewarded in the end but since this is a serial I suppose the next book is supposed to be getting on with the storyline. But the fact is the next story won't be from this angle and the questions will remain unanswered. Another couple will be on the path of true happiness. I can't recommend this book for someone like myself who's looking for a little light escapism reading. But perhaps if you have recently experienced a death or loss in your family and are wondering at the meaning of life itself, and don't want to go to usual books, this could be the book for you.

Can someone tell me if there's going to be a sequel?,
This review is from: Colliding Forces (The Foundation, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Is it just me, or did this story finish with a lot of loose ends? On the final page, this reader was left feeling as if she'd hit a dead end while still traveling at full speed ahead.
Characters were introduced that could have added amazing content, yet never revisited i.e., the grandmother and the mother's first love. I felt that the grandmother in particular could've become a strong secondary character. Perhaps there was a limit as to the length of the book that caused the abrupt ending with the only closure being that the hero and heroine found their happily ever after. Overall, this was a good read and I will buy the prequel, but again, there was no real closure and I was left feeling shortchanged.

Waiting for the change,

I started off with my heart shedding tears through the first few chapters, as D. goes through the emotions of losing her mother. These emotions are very close to home.
But as the story continues I'm waiting for something to change to make the story more interesting, more umph. But I'm getting very discouraged. I'm entering the 15th Chapter, more than half way through the book. It sounds like it might get a little more interesting. Too late, I'm bored. Also the spelling and missing words are not becoming for this author.

Wonderful Book, One of my TOP 10 for 2005,

Want to put a smile on your face or someone else's - this book will certainly do that. Colliding Forces has everything, Light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, also things we are subjected to every single day out here in the real world - new media that deliberatly sets out to frighten us! As a big bonus this book really has a message for everyone! Not to mention romance, shapeshifting and FUN. I gave this 5 stars, it deserves many more much more. What a wonderful present (it takes place during the christmas season) any time of the year. Ranking this as one of my top ten "you've got to read" for 2005.

fine supernatural romantic suspense,
This review is from: Colliding Forces (The Foundation, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Thirty-six years old Philadelphia TV six o'clock newscaster Deborah Stark has never and will never allow her feelings especially that second hand emotion of love to get in the way of her career ambitions. Her latest lover Marcus Bocelli is perhaps more of a hunk than any of them and she admits she wants him as never before, but he remains like those before him, a temporary itch "scratcher".
Deborah returns to her Hadley, New Jersey home when her aunt calls to tell her that her mother died. Marcus arrives shortly after allegedly to offer her solace. She appreciates the gesture but fears falling in love with him so she dives into a story that should dampen her lust. She has found that the company that owns her Philadelphia television station is corrupt and seemingly breaking the law; she plans to prove this and air her findings. However, Marcus has kept some secrets from his beloved that he knows he must share with her if he wants anything permanent with his reluctant disbelieving beloved. The least is his ability to change physical shapes while the most is the agenda that sent him following her to Hadley. COLLIDING FORCES is a fast-paced romantic suspense thriller that contains some supernatural elements, but for the most part those paranormal skills take a back seat to the love story between two reluctant warriors and to the corruption investigation. The story line is action-packed, but driven by doubting D. who questions the motives of the man she is falling in love with from the moment they connected at the wedding of the stars of SHIFTING LOVE (Marcus was a secondary character). Fans of supernatural romantic suspense will appreciate Constance O'Day-Flannery's fine tale. Harriet Klausner |
