Intresting story with a bit too much sex,

Collision Course takes you on a journey of discovery between Aaron and Joey. They both have their own problems about their past.
The story itself is interesting but comes a bit too short due to a lot of sex (the sex-part takes roughly about 1/4 to 1/3 of the book). For my part a bit too much sex - not that it isn't well written or varied, but it actually holds back the good story itself. If you like lots of male/male sex mixed with an good story, you will like this book. I still enjoyed it (due to the story), but would have more with less sex and more story.

Collision Course,
This review is from: Collision Course (Kindle Edition)
Child services worker Joey Miller never had a problem falling in love, it was staying in love that was the problem. Starting his new job in a new city he meets Aaron, a paramedic who makes it quite clear anything going on between them will be just sex. Even though Joey has known love he has never felt for anyone what he feels for Aaron and he wasn't going to let this relationship end without a fight.
Aaron doesn't know what to make of Joey. He's not looking for a serious relationship and the last thing he wants is to get involved with someone who works for the department that made his life hell, but Joey's openness and sweetness was hard for Aaron to resist. I liked this story. Aaron and Joey's hang-ups at times were comical, especially when their loved ones stepped in. The people around them, friends, family and co-workers had their own advice and opinions about Aaron and Joey's relationship. I really liked the boys and found Joey to be absolutely adorable even if he was a tad bit annoying at times. Collision Course is a sweet story of building trust and lowering defenses. I enjoyed it and I am sure many others will too. Ley Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

More sex than I expected, but overall a good read,

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.
Rating: 7/10 PROS: - I was hooked literally on page 1. Something exciting and dramatic happens at the VERY beginning of the book, and that scene serves to illuminate many of Joey's character traits in a sweet, amusing way. - Joey is quirky and cute, and Aaron has just enough of an OCD complex to make him interesting but not too annoying. They also behave in matter-of-fact, believable ways: I had to chuckle when Aaron drops Joey off after their first night together and Joey says quite cheerfully (I'm paraphrasing here), "You know, you're great in bed, but a total jerk." - The sex is hot and plentiful, and in spite of the pervasiveness of sex scenes, I didn't find them terribly monotonous. (see cons below also) - Just like with this novel's predecessor, Diving in Deep, the relationship in this book develops gradually from attraction to affection to love in a way that I thought was realistic and pretty normal. CONS: - On a few occasions I had trouble keeping up with the dialogue because the characters converse as though one or both of them are on speed. - I didn't have a problem with the AMOUNT of sex in the book, because after all, the relationship is based on nothing BUT sex at the start. It did irk me just a little that the characters sleep with each other so soon after meeting (as it always does), but the main criticism I have of the sex is that Joey...doesn't quite have a FIXATION on what it must feel like to go raw, but he's really curious. So it seemed to me like one of those things that would happen toward the end of the book once the characters have confessed their love for each other...but it doesn't happen. - There's a big dramatic finish at the end that I felt was unnecessary. For one thing, the main story arc--two guys who are pretty determined not to fall for each other DO fall for each other--is already pretty much wrapped up. And for another, that final climactic scene doesn't last as long as I thought it should; when it ended I turned the page and thought, "Wow. The ordeal is over? Just like that?" Overall comments: I enjoy books that are mostly about the relationship and don't focus a lot on plot, which is the case here. If you don't like a really healthy dose of sex, though, you should probably stay away from this one, because there are easily ten separate sex scenes in this 260-page book.

So Disappointed!!!!!,
By A'Liz (St.Louis,MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Collision Course (Paperback)
I could not wait to read this book when I bought it. I just knew it was going to be one of those OMG I Love This Book!! type of stories.... By the time I got to the 3rd Chapter I was ready to take it back. I was disappointed from the very beginning. There's this bad car accident involving this kid and his unconcious parent. The two main characters meet up because of the accident and then they have sex in an ambulance a couple of hours after so that right there was a Big turn off for me. But I thought maybe it'll do like other stories and you'll soon see the chemistry and love building between these two hot characters.....the chemistry and love never came....all I saw going on was SEX...SEX..and more Sex(yawn)..by that point I honestly just tossed the book on my dresser and its been sitting there collecting dust since then.

romance done right,
This review is from: Collision Course (Kindle Edition)
I'm not the demographic for this book... but, it was free on the kindle and amazon picks quite an eclectic selection to entice it's kindle readers. I joke that most kindle freebies are classic, christian or bodice rippers. But, I love to read and as I have read A LOT of romance lately -even as a heterosexual female I can totally appreciate the pacing of this romantic story between two emotionally fragile but equally hot guys. Some say the sex gets in the way in this book, but, kudos to Collision Course for actually delivering what other "romance" books lack... SEX! PASSION! A DECENT PLOT! SEMI-BELIEVABLE EMOTIONAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! I don't just read to educate myself and achieve personal growth- I read for the entertainment. No, this isn't a classic and I'm no homosexual male- so I don't know if these sex scenes ring true. But, after reading Collision Course, I wish more romance books would just deliver the goods in a story that celebrates being in love and feeling safe to be sexy.

HALO is an Xbox Game.,
By
This review is from: Collision Course (Kindle Edition)
I had some serious problems with the characters and plot. Most of them have been covered in other poor reviews (see the 1 star review by Sam). There's just one problem that no one else has brought up.
Okay... So I'm not really into writing book reviews, I just had to get this out there- HALO is an Xbox exclusive. You cannot play it for the PlayStation. When I read a book, I expect it to be properly researched. If you get something complicated wrong, that's forgivable. Finding out that HALO is an Xbox game? As easy as typing the letters H-A-L-O into a search engine. I imagine that the author isn't a gamer, and that they felt their readers wouldn't be either- but that doesn't excuse sloppy research. Sorry to sound harsh, it's just been bugging me since I read the book.

The sex got in the way,

This story might have had more punch and a better connection between the characters if the sex hadn't gotten in the way. Half way through the book and I didn't see why they were even together other than the hot sex and the fact that the author kept thrusting them together. (Along with Joey's propencity to get hurt)
I will say that the author writes very well. A little more concentration on the plot and this would have been a great story.

Disappointing,

Having read Chasing Smoke by the same author and having enjoyed it a great deal, I was prepared for another good read with this book. However, there was way too much sex, to the point I skipped whole chunks of this to get back to the plot line thread. The characters were thinly developed, and seemed solely bent on having sex as often and wherever they might. I love sex myself, but this was a bit much for a novel. The issues of child abandonment and children growing up in the "system" was a great theme, but the silly repetitive graphic sex scenes got in the way I felt. Dialog was tough to follow as well, and on occasions I had to back up to carefully follow the conversation so as to know for sure who said what. There was also some sort of height discrepancy between the two men, but at times it did not read that way. Also, if I dare say it, neither of these guys was someone I was drawn to. Had this been my first reading of a work by this author I might have missed the much more enjoyable Chasing Smoke.

I am a straight married woman, and I loved this book. Extremely funny at times, but sad also for what both men went through. Keep up the good work. And to those who reviewed it as having too much sex, why don't you read the description or look it up on internet before downloading to see what you are getting into.

Best Gay Erotica Love Story Yet!,
By

This review is from: Collision Course (Kindle Edition)
This is the best gay erotica love story I've read yet. Great love story. Excellet writing. Smoking hot sex. In the beginning, I really didn't like one of the main characters, but I grew to love him. Love them both. I got this book free. But it's definitely worth paying for. I look forward to reading some of the author's other books.
