4.0 out of 5 stars Oddly captivating
An ecclectic mix of sounds and vocals. Not bad. It hasn't wow-ed me yet, but I haven't written it off yet. I think it is one of those albums that gets better the second or third time you give it a listen. Again, don't write it off.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT A MATCH
the music is kinda bland to start. but i have to say that Mark Boals was not the best choice for vocalist. hes not a bad singer, hes very talented, it just his vocal style doesnt fit what the band has become. he lacks the finese of John West, and while he certainly has range he lacks the power that made D.C. Cooper a force of nature. i personally like the 1st two albums...

the music is kinda bland to start. but i have to say that Mark Boals was not the best choice for vocalist. hes not a bad singer, hes very talented, it just his vocal style doesnt fit what the band has become. he lacks the finese of John West, and while he certainly has range he lacks the power that made D.C. Cooper a force of nature. i personally like the 1st two albums with Henrick Brockman better than this. Mark was a much better fit in Yngwie Malmsteen's band. the big issue this album has is, while the songs are good, it lacks that one BIG song that every R.H. album has had (i.e. message to you god, surrender, surrender). if it was crafted much more like the first "Paradox" album it would have packed a bigger punch but they take the same ave they did with "Paper Blood". my biggest problem though is Mark's screams and his harmonizing. the harmony's he doesn't finish out the line with any vibrato which leaves most of his lines sound shouted instead of sung, and alot of the screams lack power. they have plenty of range, but with out the power they just sound like a guy with a supply of helium. John and D.c. were great at the screams and they knew the exact sound and vibrato to make it rock, they weren't worried about ball busting highs. o i say its ok but if the next album "X" doesn't pick up the slack i may lose interest till they pick up a new singer.am i the only one who'd like to see Nils K Rue of Pagan's Mind or Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius at the helm of this band?!
