It is very common nowadays for heavy metal-hard rock acts to record sequels of their most successful albums. "Royal Hunt" attempts the same with "Collision Course". Still the band does not rip of parts from the original release, rather creates something musically different but just as substantial; this album is also the first to feature groundbreaking American lead singer Mark Boals (ex Malmsteen, ex "Ring of fire", "The Codex").
The brilliance of this album lies within the fact that while every track has its own identity, the succession of songs flows harmoniously with admirable cohesion subsequently making this release sound like a music journey divided in chapters. In this album the guitar is the protagonist instrument, not the keyboards; still all attention goes undeniably to Boals. If you have heard Mark's previous works it should come as no surprise that this guy "decimates" all previous RH singers.
I am not a huge "Royal Hunt" fan, still this is the first Rh album that kept me from skipping songs and couldn't help but stay gripped from start to finish.

"Rock Hard" Greek magazine (issue 30) marks this album with 9/10 commenting "Paradox 2 sounds richer and even more impressive"

If I sound really excited about this CD the title of my review simply explains why! The last few Royal Hunt albums kind of sounded OK from what I had listened to so I never bothered buying them thinking that maybe their best days were behind them. But after hearing 'Collision Course: Paradox II,' my faith in these progressive metal gods has returned! And don't worry about new vocalist Mark Boals, he fits Royal Hunt PERFECTLY! If you consider the glory days of Royal Hunt with their past albums 'Moving Target,' 'Paradox,' & 'Fear'...then this CD will bring you back! Back to the good ol' days?? INDEED!

Well Done Royal Hunt. Took awhile to grow on me, but the music is great and lots of emotion.
