5.0 out of 5 stars THE BAND HAS TALENT
Just an excellent rock band. They are versatile. They can play hard rock and slow it down. The singer can wail. The guitars are excellent, and they are not afraid to yet the drummer loose. Like most bands, they could work on their lyrics. If you liked GNR, check it out. For the low price, it is well worth it. And they don't wear funny hats.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting glam/alternative rock from 1992
1992 was just a weird time for rock music. Hair metal hadn't completely died out, grunge hadn't completely taken over, and there were a lot of experimental bands crossing genre lines and experimenting with rap, funk, and industrial sounds. One of those bands that's not so easily pigeonholed was Collision, whose self-titled debut album was released in 1992...

This is a great disc by a great band that never made it past middle level. Their second disc "Course" is equally as good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting glam/alternative rock from 1992, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Collision (Audio CD)
1992 was just a weird time for rock music. Hair metal hadn't completely died out, grunge hadn't completely taken over, and there were a lot of experimental bands crossing genre lines and experimenting with rap, funk, and industrial sounds. One of those bands that's not so easily pigeonholed was Collision, whose self-titled debut album was released in 1992.

Collision had a strong Hollywood rock vibe, drawing heavily from bands like Guns n' Roses and L.A. Guns. They also veered into blues rock and even alternative, Jane's Addiction/Mother Love Bone territory. It's a weird mix of styles, and there are definitely moments on this album where it works quite well ("Chains", "My Desire", "Things"). Other times it just sounds jarring ("Who Do You Love", "Juicy Lucy"). The guitar work on this one is pretty solid, but the vocals take some getting used to. It sounds like their singer is trying a bit too hard to do an Axl Rose imitation.

It has its ups and downs, but overall the 1992 Collision album is a solid hard rock album that most 80's rock fans should enjoy. Alternative rock fans might find it a little too "hair metal" for their tastes though.

Collision is what every rock band wants to be. They have the ability to move you & make you feel what they are trying to say. Its all about the groove not about the complexity. Sit back & prepare to be impressed!!
