This review is from: Colloquial French Grammar: A Practical Guide (Blackwell Reference Grammars) (Paperback)
For someone like me, whose knowledge of French grammar is of the academic sort, gained in school and university, and whose exposure to everyday spoken French is very limited, this book has lots of interesting facts.
I knew a few things, such as the use of "on" instead of "nous", the failure to make past participles agree, and the disappearance of "ne" from "ne... pas". But there is so much more to discover -- things that you'd never find by reading Gide or Mauriac. |
