Weighted base and attractive chrome finish, but some brushes may not fit well,
By
This review is from: Colonel Conk Evernice Model 775 Chrome Safety Razor Stand (Health and Beauty)
The Colonel Conk Evernice Model 775 Chrome Safety Razor and Brush stand has a weighted base and a nice chrome finish. Most razors should fit without any problem but some brushes may pose some problems. Depending on the brush, some have handles with a larger diameter than others. If your brush handle is too wide, it will not fit properly in the stand. I demonstrate this in my video review. If it fits your brush and razor, it presents an attractive and reasonably priced solution for keeping your shaving area neat. UPDATE: August, 2011 - I have not noticed even a speck of corrosion on my stand. Still looks as shiny as the day I purchased it. UPDATE: December 1, 2011 - Sad to say that the chrome has started to pit this. Both the base and the top part of the holder has multiple pits that are forming. Drat. Consequently, I am knocking my rating to 3 stars. It's OK but the chrome is just not that high of quality otherwise it would not be pitting and corroding UPDATE: December 6, 2011 - I'm happy to say that I had a very pleasant phone call wit Sharla at Colonel Conk. I explained the corrosion issue to her and she has agreed to replace the stand explaining that occasionally the plating process can be affected by dust or dirt on the metal prior to plating, I'm really happy that their customer service was good so I am restoring a star to my rating.

Great Way To Show Off Your Razor & Brush,

This review is from: Colonel Conk Evernice Model 775 Chrome Safety Razor Stand (Health and Beauty)
The Colonel Conk Evernice Model 775 Chrome Safety Razor Stand is a great way to show off and keep your razor and brush looking good for many years.
I have a Tweezerman Men's Shaving Brush and Merkur Classic Safety Razor, Straight - #178 - Made In Germany on it and they fit nicely. The stand's finish matches the Merkur's razor very well. The product is made in Taiwan and seems like good quality. I was taken back a bit by the price, but it isn't like I am going to have to buy a new stand again soon. It does exactly what is was designed to do: (1) Hold a Brush (2) Hold a Razor Overall, I would recommend this stand. For the same price you can find stands that only hold a brush so having one that holds a razor as well is a bonus.

corroded,

I've had this less than 4 months and the chrome plating is flaking off and corroding off of the entire stand. Do not buy unless you want to replace again in a few months.

I bought this to crown my newly installed pedestal sink and was disappointed. The foam pad that is glued to the underside is not flush with the chrome base. The metal that is formed to the curvature of the base ends in a fairly sharp edge that could gouge or scratch surfaces quite easily. Seems nice and heavy, but the lame base is a deal breaker.

Does not fit the art of shaving pure badger brush,

I got the whole Art of Shaving kit for xmas with the standard pure badger brush and a Merker 34c but didn't want to buy one of their $150 stands. The chrome on the stand is a little darker than my Razor and the Art of Shaving pure badger brush does not fit properly because the handle is too wide to fit between the prongs on the stand. I have to slide the brush in where the bristles meet the base of the brush handle...it works fine but just looks kind of dumb and crooked.

Delightfully surprised by the heft, size, and sturdiness of this item. Mirror-chrome finish. Fits my Tweezerman Badger brush and Merkur razor perfectly. 'Nuff said.

Classy, but a Little Small,

I have a Parker safety razor and a Tweezerman brush that I use this stand for. The razor just barely fits in there because the "teeth" on the stand are a little short. The brush side is a little thin, so I had to work the wooden handle of my brush down to fit in the stand. It looks nice, but it could be sized better, especially for the price.

This is the perfect stand for a shaving brush and razor. I use a Gillette Fusion razor and a standard, wooden-handle shaving brush, and both fit perfectly onto the stand. Be aware that the actual stand is completely metal unlike the picture which appears to show two sections as white plastic.

If you're looking for a very good-looking stand that does what it should, you've found it. It's practical, too, because it keeps your razor out where it can dry.
Moreover, it holds your shaving brush in the proper drying position, which will ensure a long life. (Letting it dry upside down -- with the bristles pointing up -- will, in my experience, soften the glue over time resulting in lost bristles when you use it.) If you don't have the space and are looking for a wall-mounted version, check out Colonel Conk Evernice Model 121 Hardwood Stand for Razor and Brush, Walnut Finish. This is evidently a new product, because I looked all over the web for just such a product before ordering the stand version. (The Model 121 isn't touted as a wall mount, but I imagine that some double-sided tape would do the job.)

The stand is nice, but be careful if you are buying the Omega 13109 Creamy Curved Handle Pure Badger Shaving Brush. It will hold the brush, but not the way it was meant to [It holds it where the brush meets the handle, not at the handle].
