This review is from: Colonel Heg and His Boys: A Norwegian Regiment in the American Civil War (Travel & Description Series, 13) (Hardcover)
This book chronicles the experiences of the 15th Wisconsin regiment, comprised almost entirely of recent Norwegian immigrants to Wisconsin. Large portions of the book involve letters written by soldiers. A consistent theme is the standard Norwegian Lutheran outlook on life - "it could be worse." A very engaging read, especially since one of my ancestors served in the 15th and later moved west to my home state, Minnesota.

the book was in perfect condition and arrived as fast as I would have expected. I wish I would have known that it did not contain all the photographs that the online edition contained -- i.e. My great great uncle's photo -- which is the reason I wanted to buy it.

I was looking for a book that offered a look into the experiences of the Norwegian immigrants that served in the Civil War under Colonel Heg, as I had a great great uncle who was killed while serving in the regiement. The book provided a personal reflection from the soldiers themselves thru letters and diary entries. The book came in perfect condition in a very timely manner.
