A pirate story? A talking duck? Alternate earths? A straight adventure story? All of these things combine in the weird and wonderful Colonia. It probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I very much enjoyed this quirky story of a smart-but-ordinary guy from the "real world" who gets sucked into a kind of alternate earth where--among other things--pirates still roam the seas and the "new world" of the Americas (called Colonia here) is still mostly an unsettled wilderness. A lot of fun, and it even made me think a little,
