5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative and well-illustrated., May 4, 2001
This review is from: Color Atlas of the Horse's Foot (Hardcover)
This book offers great insights into the structure, function and proper care of the equine foot. I am very glad that I purchased and read it, and I highly recommend it for anyone who needs to know this type of information: veterinarians and veterinary students, farriers, and horse owners should especially find this a valuable resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing info. - really interesting!, October 17, 2002

This review is from: Color Atlas of the Horse's Foot (Hardcover)
This book is an essential read for anyone serious about hoof care. First Pollit describes a healthy foot, then goes on to various diseases, infections, disorders of the foot, and how he treats them. The pictures are kind of discusting (color photos of freez-dried specimen) but they are very helpful in enabling the reader to understand the text. They are all color photos and there's at least one on every page or so, often more.
Pollit's book was a real eye-opener into everything that goes on in the horse's hoof. I found the extremely detailed explanation of founder (laminitis) really interesting. There is some terminology that may be difficult for the novice to understand, as well as some in depth talk about histology, "micro-happenings" of the hoof, etc.
All together it's a great book and one of my absolute favourites about horses. Even if you don't plan to be an expert, if you read this book you can end up knowing a lot more than your barn buddies.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT, February 10, 2000

This book is GREAT for all horse people. It shows what neglict can do to a poor innocent horse and it also shows a lot of accidents and repairs that are made. It is worth the money to buy this book, especially if you are doing anything in the equine industry.
