very basic but good color changing LED bulb.. pretty much the cheapest good LED color bulb I have found.. you can't make it freeze on any solid color but it transitions very smoothly between the full range of colors.. not just red, green, and blue, but the transitions are purple and cyan, and yellow, etc.. I have four of these now and pop them in to lamps around the house during social gatherings for a little extra party atmosphere..

We bought this bulb for our 11 year-old son's room. We like the energy savings - without the mercury of CFLs - and knew he would love the color changes. It started out in as the main light, but it's just not bright enough. We moved it to a floor lamp and now he uses it for fun lighting. So it's not what we originally expected, but it's working out fine in its new setting. We don't regret a thing.

This is really a neat light bulb. It works as advertised, slowly changing from one color to the next. In one case, the transition from red to purple or blue to red or something, both colors are lit at the same time for a few moments giving a neat cross or star like effect on the wall. Mine is in the porch light which has frosted glass and shows up beautifully from the street, but it won't, as one reviewer commented, light up an area.
Also, kind of a minor complaint is that it really does change colors slowly, remaining on each color for several seconds, so that people going by in cars may only catch a glimpse of a single color and not see the changes. The only other complaint I would have is that on this example, the cyan color, my least favorite color on it, has the longest duration of any of the others. But that's just a personal thing and doesn't affect the technical aspects of the bulb.

I replaced the bulbs in my community provided street lamp for Christmas with 3 of these bulbs. all 3 fade at the same time, and look awesome!
they dont give off much light. in the house would work well as a nightlight, but outside look great! [...] heres a link to a video of them in action

I agree with the other reviewer that the bulb cycles through the red color a little faster than the rest, hence only 4 stars instead of 5. Not bad though. I bought these for a string of lights in a shade umbrella over my spa. I have 8 sockets total in the string. My concern was that as they all cycled through the colors they wouldn't all be in sync which would look bad. I only ordered 4 at first and just tried them out. They all cycle at the same rate and in the same sequence much to my relief. So now I ordered 4 more to finish the string. I got these more for mood lighting and am not too concerned about their brightness but they seem to be more than bright enough.

If you want a bulb that changes colors but provides NO light then go for it.
This bulb does not have enough LEDs to do any good. You better have another light in the room, which will dround out any effect of this bulb.... You have to look directly at the bulb to see any light.

I purchased this item for use over the Xmas/NY break.
The bulb stopped working in less than 1 week. Needless to say, don't waste your time buying this one.

This thing is pretty sweet, I get compliments on it all the time. The fact that it NEVER gets hot due to it being LED is a huge plus.
Not the BRIGHTEST in the world, but for a desktop lamp or something this is perfect. I would definitely order this product again.

20% Defect Item,

I purchased 5 of these Slow Color Changing and Fade E26 LED Light Bulb 110v Red Green Blue, 1005.
4 of them worked. 1 did not light. 80% Good, 20% Defective. LED technology has come a long way as we all know from seeing it in the past. But it is still true that LED's are not so reliable as of yet - 20% defective is too much to ignore. For a $3 light bulb, I won't bother to send back for replacement. It just is not cost-effective to go through the trouble, so the defective item goes straight to the trash can. |
