The attempt to bring together others into a congregation is always a difficult chore. Where the differences of race and background compound the situation, a way or style or interacting becomes necessary. As readers, we all have our own expectations. When I saw the title: "The Color of Faith: Building Community in a Multiracial Society," I thought that Matsuoka's book would offer creative, positive approaches for Christians desiring to "build" within their church a more effective multiracial ministry.

Instead, I found that 3/4's of Matsuoka's book...

As readers, we all have our own expectations. When I saw the title: "The Color of Faith: Building Community in a Multiracial Society," I thought that Matsuoka's book would offer creative, positive approaches for Christians desiring to "build" within their church a more effective multiracial ministry.

Instead, I found that 3/4's of Matsuoka's book was devoted to informing reader's about race theory and racism.

The attempt to bring together others into a congregation is always a difficult chore. Where the differences of race and background compound the situation, a way or style or interacting becomes necessary. It would be easier, if as the other reviewer, suggested, there were some formula or techinque available. However, in absense of any easy techniques, we are left with theories and long reflection. This book is of that reflection.
