It's nice to have it organized so nicely.

For comparable titles, I suggest checking out the "The Color Index" books by Jim Krause and "The Designer's Guide to Global Color Combinations" by Leslie Cabarga.

I'd say if you're a designer, crafter, or artist, this book is a must for finding really interesting color combinations.

As a professional graphic designer and illustrator, I've come to own about a dozen similar titles, but this one is consistently my first choice when it comes to researching and creating color combinations for my work.
The main part of the book features more than 3,200 color palettes. The palettes are organized first by hue and then by harmony, and a name, an image, and accurate CMYK, RGB and HEX color values are given for each. Although only 3 to 5 colors make up each palette, building up larger combinations is easy because 18 compatible palettes are listed on each page, and additional matching colors can usually be found within a single page or in its adjacent ones.
The rest of the book comprises: a) a selection of palettes derived from beautiful nature photography (including animals, landscapes, and the earth); b) a short overview of color theory (including basics, terminology, color spaces, palette creation tools, and history, meaning and application of color in design); and c) a URL index that lists the original COLOURlovers website link for each palette. The enclosed PC- and Mac-compatible CD includes digital files for the palettes in several file formats, each format contained in a separate folder. The available formats are ASE (for Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Expression (for CorelDRAW, Expression Design, Scribus), GIMP (for Gimp, Inkscape), and HTML (for web browsers). For each palette in each format, a .png copy of the palette image from the book is included--very useful for comparing digital vs. print colors. And since both the URL index and the material included in the CD follow the same organization of the book, it is extremely convenient to find and use the palettes, and cross-reference them between book, web, and design software.

This book is a wonderful inspiration tool. As a graphic design student it has been extremely beneficial to have hundreds of color combinations right at my fingertips. A wonderful gift idea for your design or art student!

I love this book! It is straight to the point, yet beautifully presented! It is definitely a must have! I'd rather have a tangible item like a book as a reference while creating art, than going back and forth between my program and a webpage. Anyways, great book!

If you are challenged with color coordination then I recommend this book. There are thousands of palates to choose from and helps you prevent your project from looking like a crayon box! LOL

I received this wonderful color book and used it the next day in a graphic painting I was doing of a Monarch butterfly. I had yellows, oranges, and blacks painted in for the butterfly. I was thinking of a dark teal background, but kind of wanted a warmish background instead, as I wanted a warm painting. I looked up the colors I was already using and ended up choosing a bright yellow-green, and it's perfect! I've had trouble, sometimes, choosing hues that really sing together, and this book will help immensely.

I am a creative director at a print shop! Love the book! For the most part, the color combinations are fantastic and i have already used several palettes for some lucky customers! I was so excited that it came with the ABR files! I would be great is Adobe CC would fix their updates to where i don't have to reload them into the new update EVERY TIME but oh well! :)

I bought this as a gift for my mom, and she absolutely loves it! I looked through it myself and it's a really great book. I think it's a little easier to peruse than the colourlovers website, because it's organized very well. I'd say if you're a designer, crafter, or artist, this book is a must for finding really interesting color combinations. There are combinations you'd never think would work, but they do.

This is a great reference book. I love to use it to plan colors out for my projects. My son even enjoys looking through it. It's nice to have it organized so nicely.
