5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for any makeup or image professional training course
This book is perfect for introducing color and image to students and other beauty professionals who are not sure of colors. The Color Me Beautiful series has been used as textbooks for 10 years in my makeup course. If you want to know what colors look best, this book will be the best.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book is rather out-of-date.
I bought a copy of this when it was a new book (1987). Make no mistake about it, this is an 80's makeup style book. The approaches to eye makeup look rather garish today (though some would still apply to nightclubbing). Some of the advice about skin care is woefully out of date. Worth looking at if you're interested in determining what colors you look best in (clothing...

5.0 out of 5 stars It works., October 21, 1999

I look so much better in the colors she suggests for my season (winter/cool). I tried wearing "brown" makeup when it was "in", and I looked really terrible and SICK. So I came back to my winter colors and it really is amazing to me how much better you can look when you wear the right colors. I've looked at the book so many times over the years, it fell apart and now I'm ordering another!

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking beautiful with only a little make-up, March 27, 2001

Wendy Victor (Palm Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews

Over the years, this book has been my best help to age gracefully and to feel my best. I am now 57 years old, and I feel fresh and alive, with both an inner glow and an outer one. Having learned through the Color system how to find clothes that flattered my natural coloring, I can easily highlight with make-up. Whether we are going fly-fishing or getting dressed for a fancy party, I need only a small kit to make me feel my best.

Thank you, Carole Jackson, for helping us to be the special women we already are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, easy to read and follow color guides, November 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Color Me Beautiful Make-Up Book (Paperback)
"Color Me Beautiful" is a terrific way to be introduced into the world of make-up colors and other fashion techniques. I read it as though it were a novel, and, after learning the colors that are right for me and practicing the techniques, gave my new face, whch had been make-up free for about 20 years, a trial run. The response has been amazing. Ms. Jackson's focus of the application of make-up is to apply it in a way that it is not noticeable. She gives examples of people who have used the techniques she describes. I have had experiences similar to those who are exemplified in the book. Though the book is primarily about make-up and it's application, Ms. Jackson also touches on hair, nails and fragrance. She gives short, simple tips that add to the make-up regime and are easy to work with. With her seasonal color chart, the reader can hardly miss both looking and feeling beautiful. The finishing touch of the book is Ms. Jackson's brief discussion of inner beauty. The combination of inner peace, feeling good about yourself, and the beauty created by the art of applying make-up equals a happy, friendly, and beautiful woman. Thank you, Carole Jackson, for writing such a wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right On - Seasonal Color Does the Trick, May 9, 2007

This review is from: Color Me Beautiful Make-Up Book (Paperback)
I had a seasonal color analysis done in 1979, when Carole Jackson came out with her first book, "Color Me Beautiful". I have found that this system works best of all to find the colors that flatter me most (I am between Winter and Summer, a "cool" person). This book helped me to select my best colors in makeup and also explains why.

I recommend it highly for anyone just trying to get together the best colors!

1.0 out of 5 stars Forget it!, March 12, 2002
This review is from: Color Me Beautiful Make-Up Book (Paperback)
If you know your season and your best colors (from any other Color Me beautiful book) then forget this one. You're much better off buying Bobbi Brown's or Aucoin's book, both of which will offer you much better make-up tips and ideas.

The book is badly presented with boring pictures and graphics and an uninspiring layout that does nothing to attract your eye. When you go through Brown's or Aucoin's books, you find yourself itching to put some make on, with this one, you'll close the book and wonder what's on TV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book but it gets off the subject of color, February 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Color Me Beautiful Make-Up Book (Paperback)
Years ago I had the Color Me Beautiful book, but at some point gave it away, or sold it on Amazon. Years later, I wanted to find my colors again, so I got the makeup book. After reviewing the book, I remembered how I could never decide what I was, summer or winter. I have decided that the cool colors are best, so I made some progress, and am probably most safe with summer colors. There are tests to determine which season is best, if you cannot decide between two. (There are 4 seasons) For me I found it was best to decide by process of elimination. The rest of the book seemed to be alot of non-color-essential filler, like how to apply makeup, and hair and clothes styles. So for the low price of a used book, I got more information than I needed.
