From School Library Journal
Grade 3-6. Knee-high hackers will no doubt enjoy Color Me Criminal even more than the uninitiated as it is based on the Carmen Sandiego% software program. This playful mystery involves junior ACME detectives, Ben, 11, and Maya, 9, in a search for the thief who absconded with the colors from the Painted Desert. Wordplay abounds as the sleuths go from California to Arizona, Louisiana, Minnesota, New York, Utah, and Alaska eliminating such unsavory suspects as Dee Molish, Freda D. Darke, and Nell N. Void. A wee bit of geography is tucked in as the duo travels about and technology that is?or will be?or sure would be nice?is common place. This book could be just the thing for some reluctant readers who are witty enough to follow and enjoy the wordplay. Libraries where kids and computers mingle and where the software is popular are the most likely to want this addition, but the mystery stands alone for those who are tired of David Adler's "Cam Jansen" and Donald Sobol's "Encyclopedia Brown" books.?Jody McCoy, Lakehill Preparatory School, Dallas, TX
