Red, White, and Blue Review,

This is a great book to color. Illustrations are easy to fill in, and if you use bright markers, the end result can be really "spiffy". A wonderful collection of posters. I wasn't aware of the variety from years ago. Some of these are so neat you could even cut them out and frame them. Well worth the money.

Color Your Own Patriotic Posters,
By Jackie R. Johnson "jrjohnson1408" (Mountain City, TN) - See all my reviews

This is my favorite of all the Dover Coloring Books because it combines two of my favorite things: coloring and military history.
The selection of posters is excellent: 14 from WWI and 16 from WWII. The drawings range, in my opinion, from a medium to a difficult skill level. "Rosie the Riviter" is the simplist and "Don't Let That Shadow Touch Them" is probably the hardest. Some parents might be concerned about this coloring book, but there really isn't any need to be. One image does show a soldier standing over an enemy's body, but none of the pictures are graphic. There also aren't any posters that could be termed racist although they certainly existed at the time. I would recommend this book to anyone enterested in the World Wars, Americana, or well-drawn coloring books in general. You won't be disappointed.

From Uncle Sam and Rosie the Riveter to the Red Cross, it's 30 high quality white stock pages printed back-to-back of old-time war posters.
Each page contains a small caption at the bottom detailing author's name of depicted poster (if known) as well as circa dates. An historical view of American wartime propaganda. It also includes thumbnail versions of the actual posters in full color, printed inside the front and back covers. Considering these are poster art reproductions, Dover should have printed them each on individual pages instead of back-to-back. I plan on leaving my book intact and just photocopying each page so I can use markers as well as pencils. A very high quality coloring book, as all Dover publications are.

I am teaching a class this fall on WWI and WWII. These posters will be an asset to the class as they depict the war effort in America at the time. Great product. Fast delivery.
