I BROUGHT THIS CD BACK IN 87 WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT AND IT WAS THE BEST I EVER HEARD. I LOST IT AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO REORDER IT AND I STILL THINK IT THE BEST WITH SONG LIKE OAK TREE AND DON'T WAIT FOR ME NO ONE CAN PUT IT DOWN LIKE MORRIS AND YOU KNOW THIS MAN.

He's still the man!,

With The Time gone, along with the production of the Starr Company (Prince), Morris Day had to show the world he could do it on his own. Thank goodness for "The Color of Success." Showcasing his writing and musical skills, he proved that he could still create new dances ("The Oak Tree" wasn't as popular as "The Bird", but was a hit, nonetheless), and he could write a ballad as great as the next man. To this day, I still don't know why "Don't Wait For Me", the most requested song on the radio from that album, was never released as a single."Love Sign" and "Love/Addiction" were jams to lay back and enjoy, and the title track is one to criuse to. With this talent, one has to wonder why Morris Day (and his group The Time) decided to tease us with only 6 songs on each album? (Day somewhat changed that pattern by releasing 8 on his next effort, "Daydreaming"...probably to make room for Jam/Lewis productions) Still, Morris proved with "Success" that he could tease us and get away with it. And he showed he could do it without his cousin's help (Prince, for those who didn't know).
