This review is from: Color and Value (Keys to Painting) (Paperback)
This book is very instructive, offering many exercises for learning to see color and value. There are demonstrations to follow and beautiful examples of work by artist's who have amazing ability to teach as well as get the values perfect. I don't know why that particular painting was chosen for the cover, as I don't feel it's nearly the best example in the book to illustrate the title. I really love Tom Browning's work. His paintings are uncomplicated and the value system is dead-on. Kevin McPherson and Skip Lawrence also have beautiful examples in this book. I like this book so much that I gave it to someone who is just learning to paint, as I really feel it will help her, and I got myself another one to have on hand. Highly recommended!
