4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Basic Overview of Color Blindness, April 3, 2000
By
Jennifer McAlister (Orange,New Hampshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Color Vision Deficiency and Color Blindness (Paperback)
When my son started first grade,I was surprised to learn he was colorblind. He could not pass the Ishiara tests that are done to tell if they have a deficiency.Like any concerned parent,I started reading everything I could find on it.This book was a good starting point for someone who knew nothing about color blindess. They review how color deficiency occurs (mostly genetic from the mother's side of the family),and the various tests that are used to determine the level of blindness. There are also several versions of color blindness, which are also described.Although not particularly technical,it was a great place to start and made me feel I had a better understanding of how my son saw the world.I also recommend the book Coping with Color Blindness by Odeda Rosenthal.Hers is an even more indepth view of what color blindness is.
