This review is from: Color for the Watercolor Painter (Hardcover)
This is the most detailed and most instructive art book that I've come across in a month of Sundays. The author, celebrated fine artist Tom Hill, leaves no doubt of which brush to choose, which material to select, and then he gives you a step-by-step illustrated image of how to do it and how it is supposed to look. From the very first page, he tells you how to set up a studio, and has numerous fine hints for tools you can make yourself in lieu of expensive purchases. His section on selection of, prepping and stretching watercolor paper is like an art class session. He explains exactly what you will need for studio painting, for field work and it is all done in such a relaxed friendly atmosphere that you honestly feel this teacher is standing at your elbow. If you have ever wanted to explore the mysteries of watercolor painting and its various elements, this specifically detailed guidebook is without peer!
