Amazing Book!,

This review is from: Colorado River in The Grand Canyon Map - 4th E-RiverMaps (Misc.)
This book is the most convenient way to stay connected with what is happening on a Grand Canyon float trip. All the information you need, and most of what's interesting, are found on each page as you drift merrily along.
The book's layout is ideal to plop down on the cooler in front of you while setting up for the next rapid. The idea of having the maps and descriptions all start at the bottom of each page is absolutely brilliant! At first I was confused as to why they did this, but after the first day on the river, all becomes clear. It tells you where to put your boat for the best run, and where to find the best campsites, hikes and points of interest. If you're planning a float trip, this is the best book to get for the voyage.

This review is from: Colorado River in The Grand Canyon Map - 4th E-RiverMaps (Misc.)
Used this on my first trip down the canyon and it was a great asset. Has a good amount of info about the river and many attractions along the way. The fact that it is waterproof makes this guide there is no need to hide it from the occasional splash and the pages did not seem to stick together once wet. The river is broken up into even chunks and they fill each page with info about that section. The problem comes when there is a lot going on in a given section as some attractions may be overlooked as rapid descriptions take precedence and incredible side hikes/attractions may become mere mentions. The book also has links to GPS points with everything in the book potentially making the Canyon brainless when you combine the two. Overall great book for negotiating the river part of the Grand Canyon, locating camps, and knowing where and when to scout rapids, but I would supplement this with another book on the hiking, geology, or land features on the canyon to get the most out of your trip
