About the Author

Louis W. Dawson II has firsthand knowledge of the 10th Mountain huts and trails. Since school days in his hometown of Aspen, Lou has been climbing and skiing the mountains of Colorado. He's spent hundreds of days at the 10th Mountain huts, and is well known for being the first person to ski down all 54 of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks. The author of six backcountry ski books and numerous magazine articles, Lou is also a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. He has been an instructor for Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School, and is a charter board member of Friend's Hut Incorporated.
