4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Colorado 14'er Climbers, July 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Colorado's Fourteeners Map Pack (Paperback)
I had the pleasure of using the map pack on a recent week of 14'er bagging. The maps are larger versions of the ones included in the second edition of the book. The back of the map contains detailed info on the "most popular" route. I currently use the original edition of Roach's book with the new map pack. Since the new color maps in the 2nd edition of the Colorado Fourteeners book do not photocopy well, the single page maps(approximately legal size) are more convenient than carrying the entire book. If you are a map fanatic like me, there is much to enjoy. Unfortunately, there is no geoposition data on these maps for GPS fanatics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lacking detailed summit routes, May 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Colorado's Fourteeners Map Pack (Paperback)
There is plenty of great information in this book. I appreciate all of the authors info and commend him on his achievements. Trailhead info and summit locations, mapped and written, are sure to be helpful leading one to a certain base camp. Actual summit routes are vague and this should not be your only guide for helping you reach your destination, especially when class 3 climbing or above is involved.

The cost of this book troubles me. I paid $25 for this item in very good condition, which it was. Many prices went well beyond that, even reaching over a hundred dollars! When I received the book, I noticed a stamped price on the back of $14.95, whats up with that?

I do not regret buying this item and encourage others to support this author, and adventurer. I am thankful for those who have taken the time to record their experiences for others to enjoy. To have info on every Colorado 14er in one collection is awesome. What an amazing feat for Gerry to conquer all these peaks.

Just be sure to look elsewhere for a more reasonable price.
