This review is from: Colorado's Sanctuaries, Retreats, and Sacred Places (Paperback)
Colorado's Sanctuaries, Retreats and Sacred Places is a nicely designed book for any "spiritual tourist" heading to the Rocky mountains. Jean Torkelson was the religion editor for the Rocky Mountain News and is fair to all the groups/sites she visited. It is a rare book that can treat evangelical Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, or New Age groups equally with respect.
Some of what you read might make you cringe but I would highly recommend it for any one interested in what is happening spiritually in the great state of Colorado. There are photo's of each place with a brief history and statement of purpose by those who find the site special. Plus there is contact information (or hours of operation) for those who would like to visit first-hand. |
