Very chill - great for babies!,
This review is from: Colorcalm - Skies (DVD)
I've found this DVD works quite well for calming our baby at nap time. No squealing cartoon characters or purple dinosaurs here, just mellow music and drifting skies. For some reason the little guys just seem to love this disc. For all those stressed out new parents out there, this ones a keeper!

DVD Talk Magazine - most innovative release in 2004,
By
This review is from: Colorcalm - Skies (DVD)
No plot, no character development, no script. No, it's not the latest Hollywood blockbuster...it's one of 2004's most unique DVD releases! While there's no doubt that this disc might not be up everyone's alley, it was definitely a welcome change from the norm. If you're a fan of color as much as I am, I'm sure you'll enjoy Colorcalm: Skies. The DVD itself offers a great technical presentation, and that's what this release really needs. Above all else, Skies makes for a nice, relaxing experience that might just brighten up your day...especially if you doze off in the middle. Highly Recommended.

Great party conversation piece,

This is a great party conversation piece. The options for selecting various styles of music (or silent) make it great for a variety of situations.

Calm or Boring?,

I've tried several different screensaver type DVDs for my office bigscreen, which I use to create ambience for in-office coaching client visits. This one wound up on the bottom of the heap. A sky that's orange, or pink, or green, is just weird. That leaves blue, which is very nice. But the music leaves much to be desired, and the DVD hiccups a lot. I would not purchase this again given the chance. Colorcalm - Skies

A short sample of Skies. Meditative and lulling.,

Style vs. Content,

This review is from: Colorcalm - Skies (DVD)
Great packaging & presentation, a superb idea .... but very little content. A fine example of style over substance.
Ultimately this product is no more than a screen-saver for your TV. If you plan on using this on your PC / MAC - then I'm sure that you could download something for free over the internet, that will more than match this product. Save your money, open the blinds and take a good look at the real thing. A disappointing purchase.

Not entirely successful implementation of a good idea,
By
This review is from: Colorcalm - Skies (DVD)
The idea's not bad. Pick a sky color, pick some music (or silence), and let it go. Perfect for young kids, chill rooms, etc.
But the cloud shots last only a few seconds apiece, endlessly dissolving into one another, which makes for a rather busier display than I was expecting. A single continuous shot would be more relaxing. The color options are ghastly; only the "blue" option, with a more or less normal sky, is watchable. The "ambient" music uses dated textures and sounds cheesy. The "classical" music is anonymous but listenable enough if played very softly. Best is the "natural" sound, although after a while it reminded me of the sound effect they used while Superman was flying in the old TV show. An interesting conversation piece for a party, I suppose. |
