Americans have lost much of their knowledge of basic historical facts, particularly those relating to the American Revolution. In fact, a recent survey of high-performing college seniors found that more thought that Ulysses S. Grant (a Civil War general in the 1860s) commanded the troops at Yorktown than George Washington (who actually did lead those troops in the 1780s). Since advanced college seniors cannot identify the commander-in-chief of the American Revolution, it is not surprising that today's Americans know even less about the thousands of African Americans who fought during the Revolution, or that they participated in every major battle of the War.

Although this part of our history is unfamiliar today, it was known in previous generations because of the writings of black historians such as William Nell, an award winning young scholar in Boston during the 1830s. He studied law and became the first black American to hold a post in the federal government. In 1852, he authored Services of Colored Americans in the Wars of 1776 and 1812, and three years later, he penned The Colored Patriots of the American Revolution.

This book was written in the 1700's and contains infromation that for nefariious reasons you will never read in any school history book

I heard of this book on Glenn Beck. This is the truth those who wish to devide the American people would serpress.

This is a Great book. It should be required reading in all high schools, if but for anything else to reinforce the fact of a SINGLE national history and culture in which all citizens, "Black, White, Yellow, Red or Brown," man, woman, Christian and Jew, participated in from the very beginning. There is no separate "Black" or "White" American histories/cultures, we have ONE single history and ONE single culture that we naturally evolved and live, and continues.

We, as a nation and a people, have to get over the details, and unify over the core truths that makes us whom we are. We, as a nation and a people, have more in common with each other than "the others" some Americans claim they are a part of in spite of the nation and culture they were born into and grew up in (and are blinded and confused to because of counter cultural liars, cheats and thieves).

Who we, all of us, "Black, White, Yellow, Red or Brown," are today is not who we were yesterday, when we come to terms with yesterday, embrace it in context for what it was, we must move forward, together, or we will fall divided.

The talking heads of Counter culturalism have an ideological axe to grind, that has nothing to do with the hard events of the past that they exploit, and all to do with power, manipulation, and control, and the cultural implosion of a nation they hate because it is not their utopia of universal slavery/indentured servitude, poverty and misery and dependence upon the state and an elitist intellectual ruling class (i.e. themselves).

Liberty and Freedom are the only salvation for the American people, let alone the human race. Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying America or Americans are perfect, we are only Human, I am saying our core beliefs and values are perfect, and it is those core beliefs and values that individuals the world over love and idealize, and the reason why most who immigrate to the U.S.A., and the reason why we as a nation are so successful.

There is an ideology/religion of Revolutionary Slave Mongering in the world that is the enemy of individual and collective Liberty and Freedom. "Black" Americans intuitively understood this better than any people in the last 200 years (Many "white" Americans knew it too, and they defined the newest creed of Liberty and Freedom for the world) and that's is why "Black" American men and women have fought in every military engagement their nation has fought in for the last 200 years.

That is why this book should be required reading for High school kids.

We, as a nation, are failing to educate our kids in the public school system in the civics of Liberty and Freedom, and that is why today after 40 years of "Liberal" counter cultural education, we have adults that don't know the difference between Democracy (a government of collective will derived through negotiation and compromise of ALL its citizens) vs. the tyranny of majority rule and fascist tendencies of totalitarianism.

The book came to me in a timely manner and is in very good condition for an old book. I am very please to have acquired it.
