By
This review is from: Colores Santos-Remixes (Audio CD)

Not "Remastered" - needs to change listing,

This is a good enough CD, but it is not what is advertised. It is not remastered at all. In fact, this is just a re-release of the Cerati-Melero "Colores Santos (remixes)" CD, which has already been on the market for years. Don't be fooled or pay high import prices since this is not the original CD.

Listening to this CD today makes you wonder how ahead of its peers Gustavo Cerati and Daniel Melero are. Today this CD sounds like another addition to the Electronic Sound Era but one has to take into consideration that this CD was recorded several years ago making the music at the moment something completely new.Cerati impresses with his ability to reinvent his music and to see things from a different perspective each time he performs or composes. This CD today is proof of this musica gift. As for the music on this CD its stand out as being ambient and mind expanding. This is a work of music that needs to be heard several times to dig into the many hiden musical layers that its made of. Cerati and Melero experimented with their instruments, the studio and their creative minds for a classic and sometimes forgotten record.

Prelude to Cerati's current works,
By
This review is from: Colores Santos: the Remixes (Audio CD)
The song "Vuelta por el Universo" alone is worth the buy. But you also get "Cozumel", "Tu Medicina" and "Colores Santos", the song that Cerati dedicated to his father. The surreal lyrics get along very well with the dreamy music. Daniel Melero did a nice job here for Cerati's the one you really notice playing and singing. You can tell by some songs in this album that he wanted to get into electronic music since 1993...

Sweet downtempo work from Argentina ahead of its time,
By
This review is from: Colores Santos: the Remixes (Audio CD)
From the guts of Argentina in a time when the world wasn't even ready for it, Soda Stereo frontman Gustavo Cerati and longtime collaborator Daniel Meleros teamed up to create this beautiful downtempo masterpiece, aptly titled "Colores Santos" (Saint Colors). Like a painter's pallette, Cerati and Meleros, paint on a canvas without much regard for the standard musical forms at the time: remember this album was first released in 1992. At times during the album I think this is how a John Lennon work would have sounded in the nineties, if he were still with us...My two favorite tracks (not taking anything away from the rest of the album), "Alborada" and "Vuelta por el universo". A nice couple of companion CDs to go with it: Cerati's own "Amor Amarillo", his first solo work altogether (recorded while he was still with Soda Stereo) and "Bocanada", his first album after the band broke up. And if you want to hear what Soda Stereo was about, grab a copy of "Dynamo", "Cancion Animal" or any of their live albums. You will thank me for it! ;)

Cerati: El maestro del rock en espanol!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Colores Santos: the Remixes (Audio CD)

Cerati's very best,

This album is amazing, even after 15 years their songs are still on my mind. Unfortunately, I lost the CD and the album has been discontinued. If you anyone know how I can get my hands on this album it would be greatly appreciated.

Adelantado a su época,
By Stanley Araya (San José, Costa Rica) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colores Santos: the Remixes (Audio CD)

Y Basta.
