I gave this to my two year old for Christmas, along with the board book. He loves sticking the felt pieces to the board and telling me all about what the hungry caterpillar is eating. We also use it to count and to talk about colors. He hasn't been able to play with it by himself, and he's only interested in it for a few minutes at a time, but that could be age related more so than toy related. It's easy to clean up because all the pieces fit into a pouch inside the bag, which we use to store the board. It's just the right size, and he likes pretending it's a briefcase, too! All in all, a quality product at a reasonable price.

My grandughter LOVES this story. She can retell it wonderfully, using the book, and we call that "reading"- as should you all!! Having these brightly colored easily manipulated felt pieces to further encourage her love of reading, story recall, and sequencing skills is a wonderful addition to her usual "story time"! She's three years old and has retold the story and already made up her OWN version (developing thinking, problem solving and creative skills)!! Recommended to you by a Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher!!

We bought this as a giftf for a 3-year old preschool - it is really cute. My 2 year old enjoys playing with it too.

Just used this item on a 2 week road trip (3,5000 miles total). It kept my 3 year olds entertained daily. Fit perfectly on their laps in the car seats. Was easy to store when they were not interested. I'm very glad I bought this product.

This story is one of my favorites and I am a special education teacher who works with children with Autism. I used this for following directions and scanning purposes. As I read the story, I have my students match the picture in the book to the feltboard piece. They loved it! One of my students who is non verbal loved the watermelon and began saying the /w/ sound because he loved the piece so much! I highly recommend this toy! Very durable and the pieces fit nicely in a small plastic pocket in the carrying case.

Great toy. 2 and 3 year olds spend hours making different scenes. A toy where the child has to use their imagination!

when i do this along side the very hungry caterpillar its a big hit. love this book so this is a fun way to jazz up story time.

My 3 year old grandaughter loves anything Eric Carle and this was no exception. She had so much fun making up stories with the objects she knows so well from the story. A great buy!

I got this toy on a recommendation as I looked for quiet, durable, travel-friendly toys to entertain my 21-month-old on a recent flight. The felt board is a little too big for most carry-ons, but she adored it once we got to her aunt's house and played with it all weekend! It's a nice way to help her count the items the caterpillar eats (one apple, two pears, etc.) and tell the story through the felt manipulatives. A very nice set and very reasonably priced.

I bought this for my 18 month old to use in the car on a road trip. She loves the book and playing with stickers, so I thought it would entertain her.

I spent more time picking up the pieces from the floor than she did playing with it!

Its cute, but the pieces DO NOT stick to the board. Its fun if you use it as if you were reading the story. But it definitely is not as cool as I thought it would be.
