4.0 out of 5 stars Nice if you're into the Goddess space
This isn't a coloring book for everyone. If you're at all offended by pagan-type images, don't bother with it. There are amazon and goddess images all the way through. A number of the images are also nude or semi-nude. If none of that bothers you, if in fact you're a pagan or pagan-friendly, or you're open to mythic images of women, then you might well enjoy this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Poor Paper
The pictures in this book are wonderful and fun to color, but the paper used is too thin and anything but crayon or colored pencil shows right through to the next page ruining the next picture! I wish they had spent the extra money on extra thick paper.

This isn't a coloring book for everyone. If you're at all offended by pagan-type images, don't bother with it. There are amazon and goddess images all the way through. A number of the images are also nude or semi-nude. If none of that bothers you, if in fact you're a pagan or pagan-friendly, or you're open to mythic images of women, then you might well enjoy this. The compositions range from simple to complex, and there is a nice diversity in the size, shape and racial characteristics of the figures.

The paper will take crayon, colored pencils, or markers with ease. I don't think I'd try painting in this (or any other) coloring book because the pages are just not heavy enough to resist some serious warping.

I have to say, I think it's a bit thin over-all. A little text would have been a welcome addition or even a space for you to create your own story about the image. But that's a small quibble. On the whole, I'm enjoying this book more than the others I bought at the same time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, April 15, 2005
This review is from: The Coloring Book for Big Girls (Paperback)
I was really disappointed with this coloring book. The pictures are pretty new-age cheesy and there is so much black print in the pictures that there is very little left to color. It's like a collection of photo-copies of sci-fi/new age prints. Not very appealing, even to a Goddess-loving gal like myself.

It feels like being a kid again... intricate and playful. I enjoyed going back to my kid-roots and being nostalgic. This coloring book is a great after work stress buster!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, how I love to color., January 14, 2009

I have been coloring most of my life...first as a child, then as a mother with my children, and I still try to color daily at age 68. I found the Big Girl Coloring Books about 6 years ago. I have stacks of coloring books that I use, but I always go back to 'The Big Girl books' by Sudie Rakusin. They are liberating. They free me to color a pink elephant, and a purple cow and not have to explain my choice. I have learned so much about shading and color choices over the years, and I'm still experimenting with color. I have just ordered my fourth set of coloring books by Sudie, the other books are full. I would love to have a third book in the series.
Thanks for giving me a free spirit. I love your style.

3.0 out of 5 stars Definately not for the young., December 27, 2010

My son's girlfriend likes to color just as much as her 7 year old son so I found and bought this on line through Amazon. Wasn't able to see many of the pictures and found
out after she opened it that it had a few naked and explicit pictures of women. Cute
but would not suggest for everyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected, March 26, 2008

I bought this coloring book for my 15 year old daughter. We all love to color in the summer as just a downtime thing to do. She was shocked by the naked women. I was also surprised as I had not expected that, no review had mentioned it. So it is a fine coloring book, but just be aware of what you are purchasing.

I was extremely disappointed in this book. The book contained only 25 pictures, all of which were 90% black on white!! This left very little room for coloring on ANY of the pictures. Many of the pics were nudes (doesn't leave much for the imagination)! I will never buy this type book again and I suggest others don't either!
