This book is 99% showing card compilations and 1% instruction. You would be far ahead to watch a youtube demo.

This book provides great, detailed instructions for a variety of card-coloring techniques. The detail from the specific materials needed for each technique as well as the careful step-by-step instructions make this a "must-have" for your card-making library. I loved the card examples and the use of glitter--colorful and engaging. I refer to this book again and again, not just for technique, but for inspiration as well!

I like to make Home Made Greeting Cards and like to use digital prints that I color myself. I thought this book would give lots of information on coloring and blending colors but it doesn't give much info on HOW to blend. Would not have ordered if I had known this.

Not what I hoped for but ok..,

I'm an avid cardmaker, I've been making cards for over 15 years now and I'm always looking for information to improve my creations. I'd hoped that this book would go into detail about the actual use of the mediums it covers, but that isn't really the case. It's more about creating a specific item using the supplies suggested. I was looking for something that would help me get more out of the products that I'm already using. This book would be wonderful for someone just starting out, but I wouldn't suggest it for someone who has been using these mediums for any real length of time. The samples are nice, the pictures are clear and the directions are easy to read and follow.

This book has some very informative ideas. Step by step instructions are very clear with pictures included. It has good instruction on watercolor, colored pencil and marker coloring techniques. I found that there is great attention to detail and there is a good variety of both cute and formal card types included.

While I found this book to be good for beginners in some ways, it's not as thorough as I would have liked it. It did show several methods of coloring, which I found helpful. If you have it next to you so you can refer to it while you try to color an image, say, on scrap paper, that would be helpful. However, as with anything else you need practice to get good. This is NOT an instant learn-how-to-color-like-a-professional guide. If you have no training, it'll be good as a foundation. If you're looking for something with more depth, perhaps a text-book type book on the subject might be better.

LITTLE INSTRUCTION ON COPICS,
By
This review is from: Coloring Techniques for Card Making (Annie's Attic: Paper Crafts) (Paperback)
I have owned watercolors, pencils and copic markers and attended many workshops/online classes for the past two years. I bought this book in the hopes that it would extend my repertoire of coloring images with copics, watercolor and pencils, but mostly copics, which is a medium I love. While the cards are beautiful and the pics great, the INSTRUCTIONS ARE SOLELY LACKING!
The supply list will give you the colors used for the entire project, but in the instructions, it just tells you to "color" the image. Anyone who has learned or taught copics knows you NEED to know what colors to apply where. Do you start with the dark or light? What colors did you blend on the leaves vs grass as they are both "green"? The same would hold true for the two other mediums featured. BOTTOM LINE: Too much left up to the reader to decide what colors to use and where, and, if you are a real novice, forget this book. You can find GREAT pdf's and video instruction online via YouTube or online classes and most of these cards are on the blogs of the talented team who created them. This book was a disappointment not for what it has but for what it LEFT OUT!

Where are the techniques?,

I just got into copics, have pencils, paint, etc, and also make cards for Operation Write Home (a plug!). I got another copics book* and this one to help me learn how to use these tools to create my own cards, etc.. Well, this book is useless. There are no illustrations of techniques, and only text mentions of what to do to make SPECIFIC cards (and, unless you plan to run out and get a bunch of supplies and a new stamp for each card, you will be VERY limited). I didn't want another "make this card" guide (there are millions online already), I wanted a reference on how to use the tools mentioned. Book is titled incorrectly, and a total waste of money if you want to learn any coloring techniques, for cards or anything else.*("copic coloring quide" ... also a waste of $ ... it is also mostly about card making ... hey guys, go to DeviantArt and see how much true art can be done with these things!)

I did learn some new tricks when it comes to coloring my stamps, lots of ideas too, and good info on the techniques as well. Nice examples and I would recommend to anyone just starting out with stamping and adding color to their work.
