The spread devoted to orange, for example, features a cluster of photos of carrots, fire, a sunset and other orange things. The minimal text and very simple flaps work in concert: "ORANGE glows," says a flap placed over a photo of jack-o'-lanterns, a glimmer of orange visible under the die-cut letters; and "Sometimes orange...," says another flap that conceals a monarch butterfly.

The real-life photographs in this book really captured my daughter's attention at a young age (less than 1 year) and now at 15 months she loves to read this book and lift the flaps. This is one of our favorites because it is so colorful and teaches basic names for things.
