I Loved It And I Don't Even Like This Genre of Books,
By Kalika (Tennessee, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colors in the Dreamweaver's Loom (Hardcover)
I can truly say that I loved this book as well as it's sequel! The heroin, Zan Scarsdale, was believable and endearing. Karivet and Iobeh were sweet and more mature than most adults I know. Remarr's plight was very familiar to the way families work today. Ychass's wild, passionate spirit was refreshing and close-to-heart. Vihena reminded me a tad of myself, striving to be herself while others around her try to shove her into a mold that she neither fits nor wants to be enclosed in. These books wonderful and have remained so even after the 5th time I've read them. I strongly urge you to go to your local library and see if they have these two books.

By Emily (Rhode Island) - See all my reviews

This book and its sequel have been favorites of mine for years. I would give anything for copies to own, this is a must read for any fantasy lover. Vihena was my especial fascination. If anyone can get their hands on a copy, read it.

A Compelling and Creative Fantasy,
By Kezarahk (San Francisco Bay Area, Califorina, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colors in the Dreamweaver's Loom (Hardcover)
Maybe not the best I've ever read, but not far from it either. It seems that an author needs to really love her creations to describe them well. The story is well peopled and the people are well done. The lands are believable. All in all, an unusual story. Read it at least once. Those of you looking for an out-of-print copy may find one at the Advanced Book Exchange. Since it's out of print, the prices may be higher than usual, but sometimes you get lucky and find a bargain.

Dreamweavers and Storymakers,
This review is from: Colors in the Dreamweaver's Loom (Hardcover)
This book is another of the three fantasy books I loved while growing up. All three were fantasy, all three were well-written, and all three deserved more attention than they've recieved.
Just as the others, it's hard to pin down exactly what I find so charming about his book. It's well-written, and avoids a lot of fantasy cliches (okay, being taken to another world is kind of a cliche idea, but I can't say too much, seeing as I've used the same idea myself). In particular, I felt that this book did a great job in not only showing us the characters, but the countries and societies that they lived in. I have yet to read the sequel...back in school, I didn't even know there was a sequel, which made the ending seem unusually harsh. I eagerly await the day my book arrives, when I can slip back into this wonderfully crafted narrative and see how things turned out.

Too Bad it is Out of Print!,

I read this book through my local library. Now that I'm all grown up and have moved away from home, I've been searching for it online. Unfortunately, it's out of print. This was a repeated reader for me, and I would love to find it, and a copy of the sequel, for my home collection. The characters, especially those of the minstrel and the twins, seem to stand out for me, and I simply loved the way the Gods and mortals affected each other....

The Best Book I have ever read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Colors in the Dreamweaver's Loom (Hardcover)
I love this book so much I have read it at least 25 times. It is well written, and the book just pulls the reader into the book. I am trying to find the sequal so I can read it too. The only bad thing about it is it is too short.

This is a great book! I read it near the beginning of my third grade school year, And it was well written, and the characters were not painted out in bright colors so that you will know what they are going to do. And the book IS like a weaving pattern like it is supposed to be. Ever since I first read it I have been looking for it in book stores for it! It is without a doubt one of the greatest books ever written!

I read this book when I was in middle school, also, and it really sparked my imagination. The way it ended left me hanging, and I want to read the next book. A really good read.

This was the most fabulous book I've ever read!,

I loved it! I've never liked fantasies, but this one was realistic. Well, not quite believable, but Zan was a very lifelike charcter. I think Beth Hilgartner is very gifted and should be proud of herself.

This is such a classic! I read this book when I was still a kid, and I'll still never forget it. It's simple and straightforward enough that anyone can pick it up and read it, and yet the tale is so compelling and the characters so well developed, that it'll keep you reading!Vihena is by far my favorite character, and has become somewhat a part of my Avatar life (do a search on Google for "Vihena" and you'll see what I mean! |
