Kill Creek is a band from Lawrence, Kansas. They have been together since, get this, 1986. They were on Mammoth records for some time, but switched to the lesser known hardcore label Second Nature Recordings. In fact, anyone who knows ANYTHING about Second Nature will be shocked at this band, as they are anything but hardcore. Blending blues, folk, country, rock, and "emo", these musicians create a sound that is at once familiar and unique. Trying to think of a band that sounds like them is difficult, almost impossible. A few years ago, they released "Proving Winter Cruel," which was a more hardcore album, with much darker overtones. "Colors of Home" reveals more gentle, subtle emotions in songs like "Without It," "Cops," and "Grandfather's Left Side." The lyrics are top notch, especially in "Moustrap," "Kathleen," and "Divorcee." Overall, this album is an unforgettable 30 minute blast of emotion and beauty that brings you from the edge of tears into pure unadulterated joy time and again. Have fun!
